1978 – Formation of Gynkotek GmbH, a producer of instruments for high performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). A milestone during the first few years was the invention of the patented isokinetic pre‑compression of eluents in HPLC pumps.

1983 – Formation of Softron GmbH, a company providing customized software development services in the fields of telecommunications, CTI, and chemical information engineering.

1990 –Gynkotek is taken over by Softron GmbH. This acquisition allows for further development of hardware and software products for liquid chromatography.

1993 – Introduction of a diode array detector fully controllable by the world’s first 32-bit chromatography data system.

2009 – Introduction of the industry-leading UltiMate 3000 RSLC nano system featuring continuous direct flow from 20 nL/min to 50 uL/min at column pressures up to 800 bar. The RSLCnano provides ultimate performance and flexibility for proteomics and similar research areas.

2010 – Implementation of an Environmental Management System and first grant of DIN EN ISO 14001 certification. Recertification of DIN EN ISO 9001:2008.

2010 – Dionex is the first to introduce UHPLC compatibility across the entire range of HPLC products, including the basic automatic and standard systems. In addition, the UltiMate 3000 RSLC systems offer the widest UHPLC operational range (up to 1000 bar and up to 8 mL/min) on the UHPLC market.

2011 – On May 17, 2011 Dionex Softron Corporation became part of Thermo Fisher Scientific.
