安乐死箱（CO2安乐死箱）

二氧化碳麻醉安乐死是通过直接或间接的缺氧引起动物死亡的，它可以在各种场所使用，并可以不同的速度使动物失去意识。要想达到无痛苦、无疼痛的死亡，就要在动作(肌肉活动)消失之前丧失意识。但是动作消失并不等同于丧失意识和没有痛苦。因此，只能引起肌肉麻痹而不能使动物丧失意识的药物不能作为单独的安乐死药物。二氧化碳法可能使动物在丧失意识之后产生运动活动，但这些运动活动只是反射活动，不能被动物感知。因此可以独立的作为安乐死方法。  

传统的断头、放血等动物致死方式，方法比较残忍，容易对实验人员的心理产生负面影响；乙醚麻醉致死的方法更不可能，本身易燃易爆并且有很强的致癌性，对实验人员伤害更大。二氧化碳安乐死安全性高，也能有效减少实验动物的疼痛和痛苦。
