IEC/TS 61934, which is a technical specification, is applicable to the off-line electrical measurement of partial discharges (PD) that occur in electrical insulation systems (EIS) when stressed by repetitive voltage impulses generated from electronic power devices. Typical applications are EIS belonging to apparatus driven by power electronics, such as motors, inductive reactors and windmill generators. NOTE 1 Use of this technical specification with specific products may require the application of additional procedures. NOTE 2 The procedures described in this technical specification are emerging technologies. Experience and caution, as well as certain preconditions, are needed to apply it. Excluded from the scope of this technical specification are – methods based on optical or ultrasonic PD detection, – fields of application for PD measurements when stressed by non-repetitive impulse voltages such as lightning impulse or switching impulses from switchgear.

The present technical report provides methods for measuring magnetically hard materials, at elevated temperatures. Magnetically hard materials (permanent magnet materials) are classified in IEC 60404-1 and their properties are specified in IEC 60404-8-1. The methods of measurement of the magnetic properties of magnetically hard materials at room temperature have been specified in IEC 60404-5 for closed magnetic circuits and in IEC 60404-7 for open magnetic circuits, respectively. The applications of magnetically hard materials are now expanding to elevated temperatures and it is therefore required to specify and guarantee the magnetic properties of these materials over their working temperature range. In IEC 60404-8-1 temperature coefficients of remanence (or saturation) and J-coercivity have been specified in addition to basic properties such as maximum magnetic energy product ((BH)max), remanence (Br), B-coercivity (HcB), J-coercivity (HcJ), recoil permeability (µrec) and density.

This part of IEC 60684 gives methods of test for flexible insulating sleeving, including heatshrinkable sleeving, intended primarily for insulating electrical conductors and connections of electrical apparatus, although they may be used for other purposes. The tests specified are designed to control the quality of the sleeving but it is recognized that they do not completely establish the suitability of sleeving for impregnation or encapsulation processes or for other specialized applications. Where necessary, the test methods in this part will need to be supplemented by appropriate impregnation or compatibility tests to suit the individual circumstances.

This part of IEC 61340 specifies test methods for determining the electrical resistance of all types of floor coverings and installed floors with resistance to ground, point-to-point resistance and vertical resistance of between 104 Ω and 1013 Ω. Laboratory evaluations carried out under controlled environmental conditions can be used for classification or quality control purposes. Tests on installed floors under uncontrolled ambient conditions can be used to determine correct installation or as part of an ongoing system verification.

This part of IEC 61340 describes a test method for determining the electrical resistance of footwear used in the control of electrostatic potential on people. This standard is suitable for use by the manufacturer of footwear as well as the end user. A method for measuring the electrical resistance of footwear alone is described and serves as an acceptance test for new footwear. NOTE Although this standard does not include requirements for personal safety, attention is drawn to the need for all concerned to comply with the relevant local statutory requirements regarding the health and safety of all persons in all places of work that use footwear defined by the test method of this standard. Insulating footwear is not included within the scope of this standard although the electrical resistance measurement techniques may be applicable.

Describes methods for the determination of the dielectric dissipation factor, relative permittivity and d.c. resistivity of any insulating liquid material at the test temperature. The methods are primarily intended for making reference tests on unused liquids. They can also be applied to liquids in service in transformers, cables and other electrical apparatus. However the method is applicable to a single phase liquid only. When it is desired to make routine determinations, simplified procedures, as described in Annex C, may be adopted. With insulating liquids other than hydrocarbons, alternative cleaning procedures may be required. The main changes from the previous edition deal with the preferred measurement method.

This part of IEC 60216 specifies the calculation procedures to be used for deriving thermal endurance characteristics from experimental data obtained in accordance with the instructions of IEC 60216-1 and IEC 60216-2, using fixed ageing temperatures and variable ageing times.
