This part of IEC 61375 defines Ethernet Train Backbone (ETB) requirements to fulfil open train data communication system based on Ethernet technology. Respect of this standard ensures interoperability between local Consist subnets whatever Consist network technology (see IEC 61375-1 for more details). All Consist network definitions should take into account this standard to preserve interoperability. This standard may be additionally applicable to closed trains and multiple-unit trains when so agreed between purchaser and supplier.

This part of IEC 62625 covers the specification of an on board driving data recording system for the purpose of recording data about the operation of the train. The data refers both to the driver behaviour and the on board systems behaviour to support systematic safety monitoring as a means of preventing incidents and accidents. The data is recorded in a way that is suitable for identifying cause and where possible consequence, such that the data is suitable: • for investigative use in case of accidents and incidents; • to monitor the appropriate actions of drivers. The conformance test procedure will be covered by a future standard in the IEC 62625 series. This standard specifies the requirements for a universal recording system that is applicable to all types of rail vehicles. Requirements and responsibilities for the management and retention of the data to ensure that its integrity is maintained once it has been extracted from the recording device lie outside the scope of this standard. Application of this standard is subsidiary to the responsibility of the transport authority and the safety regulatory authority and to the specific laws and decrees where the ODDRS (on board driving data recording system) is deployed.

This International Standard covers specific characteristics of traction transformers as defined in 3.1.1, used in traction substations or along the track for the supply of power to a.c. and d.c. traction systems or to provide power to auxiliary services. Traction transformers are either – single-phase traction transformers, or – three-phase to two-phase traction transformers, or – single-, three- or poly-phase rectifier-transformers or converter-/inverter-transformers for d.c. or a.c. traction systems, or – single phase auto-transformers for traction power supply, or – single-phase booster transformers, or – single- or three-phase auxiliary transformers at traction supply voltage. Traction transformers are generally covered by the Standards of the IEC 60076 series. The requirements given in IEC 60076 apply together with the additional requirements given in this standard. Dependent on the selected technology specific parts of IEC 60076 apply: – IEC 60076-1: Oil immersed transformers – IEC 60076-11: Dry-type transformers – IEC 60076-15: Gas-filled transformers For transformers feeding contact lines through static converters IEC 61378-1 may assist, but modified or additional requirements are given in this standard. Transformers mounted on-board traction vehicles are covered by IEC 60310 and are excluded from the scope of this standard. Electromagnetic compatibility is ruled by IEC 60076-1, which states that a transformer may be considered a passive element in this respect. Some accessories, however, are subject to EMC requirements given in IEC 62236-5.

This part of IEC 61375 applies to all equipment and devices implemented according to IEC 61375-3-1, i.e. it covers the procedures to be applied to such equipment and devices when the conformance should be proven. The applicability of this standard to a TCN implementation allows for individual conformance checking of the implementation itself and is a pre-requisite for further interoperability checking between different TCN implementations. NOTE 1 An example of TCN implementation is given in UIC 556.

This part of IEC 61375 applies to data communication in Open Trains, i.e. it covers data communication between consists of the said open trains and data communication within the consists of the said open trains. The applicability of this standard to the train communication bus (WTB) allows for interoperability of individual consists within Open Trains in international traffic. The data communication bus inside consists (e.g. MVB) is given as recommended solution to cope with the said TCN. In any case, proof of compatibility between WTB and a proposed consist network will have to be brought by the supplier. This standard may be additionally applicable to closed trains and multiple unit trains when so agreed between purchaser and supplier. NOTE 1 For a definition of Open Trains, Multiple Unit Trains and Closed Trains, see Clause 3. NOTE 2 Road vehicles such as buses and trolley buses are not considered in this standard.

This International Standard is applicable to safety related electronic systems using for digital communication purposes a transmission system which was not necessarily designed for safety related applications and which is • under the control of the designer and fixed during the lifetime, or • partly unknown or not fixed, however unauthorised access can be excluded, or • not under the control of the designer, and also unauthorised access has to be considered. Both safety related equipment and non-safety related equipment can be connected to the transmission system. This Internaitonal Standard gives the basic requirements needed to achieve safety related communication between safety related equipment connected to the transmission system. This International Standard is applicable to the safety requirement specification of the safety related equipment connected to the transmission system, in order to obtain the allocated safety integrity requirements. Safety requirements are generally implemented in the safety related equipment, designed according to IEC 62425. In certain cases these requirements may be implemented in other equipment of the transmission system, as long as there is control by safety measures to meet the allocated safety integrity requirements. The safety requirement specification is a precondition of the safety case of a safety related electronic system for which the required evidence is defined in IEC 62425. Evidence of safety management and quality management has to be taken from IEC 62425. The communication related requirements for evidence of functional and technical safety are the subject of this standard. This International Standard is not applicable to existing systems, which had already been accepted prior to the release of this standard. This International Standard does not specify • the transmission system, • equipment connected to the transmission system, • solutions (e.g. for interoperability), • which kind of data are safety related and which are not. A safety related equipment connected through an open transmission system can be subjected to many different IT security threats, against which an overall program has to be defined, encompassing management, technical and operational aspects. In this International Standard however, as far as IT security is concerned, only intentional attacks by means of messages to safety related applications are considered. This International Standard does not cover general IT security issues and in particular it does not cover IT security issues concerning • ensuring confidentiality of safety related information, • preventing overloading of the transmission system.

This part of IEC 62278 provides guidance on applying the RAM requirements in IEC 62278 to rolling stock and for dealing with RAM activities during the system life cycle phases from invitation to tender to demonstration in operation only. All references to IEC 62278 concern the 2002 issue. The guide is aimed at the customers/operators and main suppliers of rolling stock. The main purpose of the guide is to: • enable a customer/operator of rolling stock: – to specify the RAM requirements addressing the type of operation in terms of the end customer needs, considering service availability and economic considerations; – to evaluate different tenders, in terms of RAM requirements, on a common basis with the aid of specific RAM documents; – to gain assurance, during design/development phase, that the rolling stock being offered is likely to satisfy the RAM contractual requirements by examining step by step detailed and specific RAM documents as an output of the RAM activities performed during the development phase; – to validate that the rolling stock, as delivered, satisfies the specified RAM requirements; • to enable the main supplier of rolling stock; – to understand the customers/operators RAM requirements; – to provide substantive information/visibility in a tender to show that the product offered is likely to satisfy the RAM requirements by performing preliminary RAM analysis; – to provide substantive information during design/development phase to show that the product offered is likely to satisfy the RAM requirements by performing detailed RAM analysis; – to demonstrate that the product delivered satisfies the RAM requirements. Regarding LCC, this application guide is restricted to providing only the key RAM parameters necessary to be incorporated into an LCC model. This application guide excludes: • RAM values connected to the different RAM requirements (however, it contains a simple guideline of actions for supporting the decision making process and choosing appropriate values, see 5.4); • specific RAM documents to be produced and activities to be performed. However, it provides, only as an example, typical data and document templates for recording the output of a RAM analysis).

This International standard applies to the insulating synthetic ropes used in overhead contact lines. This International standard specifies the requirements of insulating synthetic rope assemblies and is applicable to electric traction overhead contact lines for railways, light railways, tramways, trolleybuses and other systems. These insulating synthetic ropes are utilised to provide mechanical support and electrical insulation for overhead contact lines. They are generally used in the following application fields: – delta suspension of contact wires; – catenary cable; – mid-point anchors; – tie; – dropper; – headspan; – noise and vibration damper; – bridle- and pulley suspensions; – cantilevers made of glass reinforced polymer (GRP). This standard establishes requirements and characteristics of the rope, test methods and checking procedures to be used with the insulating synthetic ropes, together with the ordering and delivery requirements. The synthetic ropes only for mechanical applications are not part of this international standard. Anyway the mechanical requirements and tests stated in this standard can be used for this kind of ropes. The object of this standard is to stipulate provisions for the design and to allow provision of the service indicated by the supplier to the purchaser or informed buyer.

This part of IEC 61881 applies to capacitors for power electronics intended to be used on rolling stock. The rated voltage of capacitors covered by this part is limited to 10 000 V. The operating frequency of the systems in which these capacitors are used is usually up to 15 kHz, while the pulse frequencies may be up to 5 to 10 times the operating frequency. It distinguishes between AC and DC capacitors. They are considered as components mounted in enclosures. NOTE This standard covers an extremely wide range of capacitor technologies for numerous applications: overvoltage protection, DC and AC filtering, switching circuits, DC energy storage, auxiliary inverters, etc. Examples are given in Clause 9. The following are excluded from this standard: – capacitors for induction heat-generating plants operating at frequencies between 40 Hz and 24 000 Hz (see IEC 60110-1 and 60110-2); – capacitors for motor applications and the like (see IEC 60252-1 and IEC 60252-2); – capacitors to be used in circuits for blocking one or more harmonics in power supply networks; – small AC capacitors as used for fluorescent and discharge lamps (see IEC 61048 and IEC 61049); – capacitors for suppression of radio interference (see IEC 60384-14); – shunt capacitors for AC power systems having a rated voltage above 1 000 V (see IEC 60871-1 and IEC 60871-2); – shunt power capacitors of the self-healing type for AC systems having a rated voltage up to and including 1 000 V (see IEC 60831-1 and IEC 60831-2); – shunt power capacitor of the non self-healing type for AC systems having a rated voltage up to and including 1 000 V (see IEC 60931-1 and IEC 60931-2); – series capacitors for power systems (see IEC 60143-1, IEC 60143-2 and IEC 60143-3); – coupling capacitors and capacitors dividers (see IEC 60358); – capacitors for applications requiring energy storage/high current discharge such as photocopiers and lasers; – capacitors for microwave ovens; – capacitors for power electronics (see IEC 61071).

IEC 62580-1:2015 specifies the general architecture of the On-board Multimedia and Telematic Subsystem (OMTS), which includes four categories of multimedia and telematic subsystems identified as: - Video surveillance/CCTV, - driver and crew orientated services, - passenger orientated services and - train operator and maintainer orientated services. This part establishes: - the boundary between the OMTS and the on-board communication system, as described by the IEC 61375 series, - the methodology to describe an OMTS in terms of abstract model, - the general principles and the basic requirements to specify the services provided/needed by each category, - the approach to ensure interoperability between services.
