标准的术语和定义主要参考了GB/T 12653《中国薰衣草（精）油》、GB /T 14455.1 《精油命名原则》确定的。 标准的要求依据GB/T 12653《中国薰衣草（精）油》、IS0 3515《薰衣草油国际标准》、DB65/T 3833-2015《地理标志产品 伊犁薰衣草精油》的要求，通过近几年对新疆区域内醒目薰衣草油的检测数据分析，对国家标准中规定的特征组分含量进行了科学性的调整。 通过近5年对醒目薰衣草油监测数据采集分析，新疆伊犁霍城地区的醒目薰衣草油的相对密度在0.891～0.899之间，折光指数在1.4650～1.4680之间，旋光度在-3°～2.5°之间，特征组分樟脑最高达12.7%，芳樟醇含量为26.9%～39.9%，乙酸芳樟酯含量为14.2%～20.5%，乙酸薰衣草酯含量为0～1.32%。根据以上检测数据，在制定本次醒目薰衣草油地方标准时，对醒目薰衣草油的相对密度、折光指数、旋光度及特征组分含量要求进行适当调整，相对密度调整为0.885～0.905，折光指数调整为1.4630～1.4700，旋光度调整为-6°～5°，樟脑调整限值为14%，乙酸芳樟酯调整为5%—30%，芳樟醇、乙酸薰衣草酯含量不做调整。
