1.1 This test method covers determination of the crazing effect that a liquid or semi-liquid test compound will have on transparent acrylic plastic material that is under bending stress. 1.2 Three types of acrylic material are covered. One, two, or all of the materials shall be used in the test, as specified by the procuring agency. When not specified otherwise, all three types of acrylic shall be used in the test. 1.3 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regarded as standard. 5.1 These test methods can be used for research or for quality control to determine the total chlorine content of aromatic isocyanates. In some instances total chlorine content may correlate with performance in polyurethane systems. 1.1 These test methods determine the total chlorine content of aromatic isocyanates used as polyurethane raw materials. The difference between the total chlorine content and the hydrolyzable chlorine content (see Test Method D4663) is a measure of the amount of o-dichlorobenzene and other ring-substituted chlorinated products that are present. Both procedures are applicable to a variety of organic compounds but the amount of sample used may have to be varied. This International Standard specifies three methods for the determination of the hexamethylenetetramine (“hexa”) content of phenolic resins. The three methods are equivalent. The Kjeldahl method described in Clause 3 is not applicable if there are other components containing nitrogen in the phenolic resin. The perchloric acid method and the hydrochloric acid method described in Clause 4 and Clause 5, respectively, are only applicable if there are no other basic or acidic additives in the resin. If the resin contains additives which can be oxidized by perchloric acid, only the hydrochloric acid method (Clause 5) is applicable.

This part of ISO 15252 specifies the requirements for the physical and chemical properties of epoxy powder moulding compounds (EP-PMCs) and compression- or injection-moulded test specimens produced from them. It is limited to those powder moulding compounds whose composition and properties are significantly different. This International Standard specifies a method for determining the gel time of phenolic resins at a given temperature, using automatic apparatus under specified conditions. The test temperatures are 100 “C, 130 “C and 150 “C. The method specified employs a plunger driven to carry out a reciprocating vertical motion. , This method applies to the following types of phenolic resin: - liquid resols - solid resols with low melting points Powdered resins with a short gel time, such as mixtures of novolak and hexamethylenetetramine, do not lend themselves to this type of determination. Such resins crosslink as soon as fusion starts and become too viscous in the test tube to give meaningful results. Resins containing large amounts of a solvent with a low boiling point are especially unsuitable for this type of determination. With such resins, a boiling and distillation process takes place as the resin hardens. It might be of interest to determine the time taken for the resin to gel in the presence of a catalyst. The catalyst shall be added in well defined proportions. The type of catalyst used and its treatment shall be stated in the test report.

Clause 3 defines terms relating to the chemical structure of phenolic resins, their physical state and their degree of condensation or polycondensation. Clause 4 gives a summary of test methods. This part of ISO 15252 specifies the methods of preparation of test specimens and the test methods to be used in determining the properties of epoxy powder moulding compounds (EP-PMCs). Requirements for handling test material and for conditioning both the test material before moulding and the specimens before testing are given here. Procedures and conditions for the preparation of test specimens and procedures for measuring properties of the materials from which these specimens are made are given. Properties and test methods which are suitable and necessary to characterize PMCs are listed. The properties have been selected from the general test methods in ISO 10350-1. Other test methods in wide use for, or of particular significance to, PMCs are also included in this part of ISO 15252, as are the designatory properties found in ISO 15252-1. In order to obtain reproducible and comparable test results, it is necessary to use the methods of preparation and conditioning, the specimen dimensions and the test procedures specified herein. Values determined will not necessarily be identical to those obtained using specimens of different dimensions or prepared using different procedures.

This International Standard is used to determine the total chlorine content of aromatic isocyanates used in the preparation of polyurethanes. The difference between the total chlorine content and the hydrolyzable chlorine content (see ISO 15028) is a measure of the process solvents left in the product. Both test methods are applicable to a variety of organic compounds, including aliphatic isocyanates, but the amount of sample used might need to be adjusted. 1.1 The method specified in this International Standard measures the basic constituents in polyols that are soluble in glacial acetic acid and reactive with perchloric acid. Samples containing 0,3 % to 10 % of nitrogen have been evaluated by this method. The method is applicable to polyether polyols and polyether polyol blends that are used in polyurethane reactions. The results are measures of batch-to-batch uniformity and may be used to estimate reactivity in polyurethane reactions. 1.2 It is also permissible to express the results in equivalents of base per gram of sample. 1.3 This method is technically equivalent to that in ASTM D 6979-03.
