This International Standard specifies methods of measurement for the power consumption of TV receivers, VCRs, Set Top Boxes (STBs), audio equipment and multi-function equipment for consumer use. Moreover the different modes of operation which are relevant for the power consumption are defined. The methods of measurement are only applicable for equipment which can be connected to the mains. The measuring conditions in this standard represent the normal use of the equipment and may differ from specific conditions, for example as specified in safety standards.

IEC 62028 deals with the standard conditions and methods of measurement on digital television receivers which receive digital television broadcast transmissions. IEC 62028 deals with the determination of performance and allows the comparison of equipment by listing the characteristics which are useful for specifications and by laying down uniform measuring methods of these characteristics. Performance requirements are not specified, since they are specified by other international, regional or domestic standards for the systems. It does not include the measurements specific to the transmission system, such as; · measurements on receivers for satellite transmission systems, · measurements on receivers for terrestrial transmission systems, · measurements on receivers for cable transmission systems, · measurements specific to sound channels, and · measurements specific to data channels. IEC 62028 does not include methods of measurement on outdoor units and antennas for satellite reception, for which reference is required to other appropriate IEC standards. IEC 62028 does not deal with general safety matters, for which reference is required to IEC 60065, or other appropriate IEC safety standards, nor with radiation and immunity, which will be dealt with by CISPR.

This part 8 of IEC 61966 is applicable to the characterization and assessment of multimedia colour scanners used in computer systems, multimedia and similar applications. The methods of measurement standardized in this part are designed to make possible the characterization and objective performance assessment of multimedia colour scanners which can capture colour images and output colour information such as red, green and blue data from reflective originals. The measured results are intended to be used for the purpose of colour management in multimedia systems. Measurement conditions, possible methods of measurement and characterization are defined to make colour management possible. Colour control within the equipment is out of the scope of this part. This part of IEC 60728 is applicable to any cabled distribution system (including individual receiving systems) having a coaxial cable output and primarily intended for television and sound signals operating between about 30 MHz and 2 150 MHz. This standard specifies the basic methods of measurement of the operational characteristics of cabled distribution systems having coaxial cable outputs in order to assess the performance of these systems and their performance limits. All requirements refer to the performance limits which are obtained between the input(s) to the headend or headends and any system outlet when terminated in a resistance equal to the nominal load impedance of the system, unless otherwise specified. Where system outlets are not used, the above applies at the subscriber's end of the subscriber's feeder. NOTE 1 Basic methods of measurement are described in this standard. However, any equivalent method that ensures at least the same accuracy may be used. NOTE 2 f the system operator wishes to subdivide the system into a number of parts, the accumulation of degradations should not exceed the figures given below. This part of IEC 62216 specifies the baseline receiver for the DVB-T system. It concerns: · broadcasters, and · receiver manufacturers. The objective is to define: · how to provide broadcasts that are understood by all receivers and enable receivers to provide good facilities to their users; · the behaviour required from receivers to work well with these broadcasts and to be attractive to consumers. To avoid doubt, the words "shall", "should" etc. are used in the traditional way to distinguish issues that are important versus those that are optional. The term "shall" is also used to identify mandatory requirements that are inherited from other specifications that have greater force. This specification does not consider interactive applications and the data broadcasting that would support them. Subtitling and teletext are considered to be components of TV services. Standalone teletext services are not part of this standard. This specification primarily addresses terrestrial delivery of digital transmissions. This specification primarily addresses deployment in countries that use European Latin script based languages.
