This Japanese Industrial Standard specifies the method for determination of concentration of boron contained in exhaust which is generated by combustion of coal, waste, biomass, etc. and discharged to gas flue, chimney, duct, etc. (hereafter referred to as "flue gas"), by collecting and analysing particulate and gaseous boron respectively, and then by totalling their results. The particulate boron is a general term for boron and its compound contained in the particulate matter collected by the filter of 99.5 % or over in collection efficiency to the particle of 0.3μm, and the gaseous boron is a general term for boron and its compound which pass through the filter.

This Standard specifies the methods for determination of gaseous inorganic fluorine compounds in flue gas as fluoride ions and calculation of hydrogen fluoride concentration. In this Standard, the flue gas means the gas exhausted from flue, chimney, duct, etc. (hereafter referred to as “duct”)in combustion of wastes, smelting process of aluminium, manufacturing process of chemical fertilizer, manufacturing process of glass, etc. The gaseous inorganic fluorine compounds are those passing through the filter having not less than 99.5 % in collection efficiency of particles of 0.3μm. The fluoride ion is the designation of F.

This Japanese Industrial Standard specifies the automated measuring systems (hereafter referred to as "measuring system") installed in situ which perform the long-term continuous measurement of the concentration of sulfur dioxide, nitrogen monoxide, dinitrogen monoxide, nitrogen dioxide, carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide. ammonia, hydrogen chloride, methane and moisture in the gas discharged with com- bustion of fuel and others or from various manufacturing processes etc. to a chimney or a duct in a factory and a business place using non-extractive methods. The measurement principle of this Standard shall be based on an infrared absorption method and an ultraviolet absorption method.
