本产品价格实惠，可用在需可见光和紫外波段照明。不像玻璃光纤光导，液体光导没有聚光损耗----在光纤与光纤之间存在间隙导致耦合效率降低（见图表）。这种液体光导会阻断近红外光谱，最适合可见光传输和部分波段传输高品质彩色图象。由于长波的透射率低，因此图象轻微偏蓝，输出色温偏高。多次处理过的液体光导不会导致效率降低。液体光导采用石英作为窗口保护玻璃，可密封住无毒无害的传输介质。本液体光导需借助于光纤适配器#38-944来连接照明器和滤光片。

工业级UV石英光纤光导是用在紫外波段的，在245nm黑暗环境伽玛射线或X射线环境下会有荧光现象，这种塑料-金属石英光纤介质可提供zui大的透射效率由于有着10：1的包覆率，而且柔韧性极好，涂覆层由一层PVC包裹，zui外层为不锈钢。本品不含适配器。
