Exposure to radio frequency (RF) energy has been identified as an environmental factor
to be considered before a radio transmitter will be certified by various regulatory
agencies. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Office of Engineering and
Technlogy (OET) Bulletin 65 (Evaluating Compliance with FCC Guidelines for Human
Exposure to Radiofrequency Electromagnetic Fields, edition 97-01, August 1997)
outlines various EME evaluation methods as they apply to mobile, portable and base
station Land Mobile Radio Products and provides assistance in determining whether a
proposed or existing transmitting facility, operation or device complies with established
FCC RF Exposure requirements.
