This standard specifies the size, shape, technical requirements, test methods, inspection rules, packaging, marks and quality certificates of structural steel for hulls. This standard applies to general-strength steel and high-strength steel for the hull structure of ships in ocean-going, coastal and inland navigation areas, including steel plates with a thickness not greater than 100 mm and steel sections with a thickness or diameter not greater than 50 mm. All steels (ingots, billets, and materials) used for hull structures shall be produced by steel mills approved by the Ship Inspection Bureau of the People's Republic of China or China Classification Society (hereinafter referred to as the ship inspection department).
