Scope 1.1 These requirements cover hose in nominal internal diameter sizes of 8 mm up to and including 32 mm for use on portable and wheeled fire extinguishers, hand hose line fixed extinguishing systems, and also as booster hose on fire apparatus. 1.2 Fire extinguisher, hand hose line system and booster hose covered by these requirements is intended for use at a maximum working pressure of 1400, 2800, 4200, 5600, 7000, or 8750 kPa (gauge) at a minimum temperature of –40 °C. 1.3 These requirements also cover hose for use at –54 °C. 1.4 These requirements also cover hose designated as oil resistant. 1.5 These requirements do not cover couplings nor their method of attachment. NOTE: Reference to each applicable Test Method for a requirement is indicated by the letters TM and the appropriate clause number in parenthesis in the right hand margin.

It is not applicable to extinguishing systems on ships, in aircraft, on vehicles or on mobile fire appliances, or to below‑ground systems in the mining industry; nor does it apply to carbon dioxide pre-inerting systems. 1   Scope This British Standard specifies performance requirements for, and the maximum capacity of, small single use fire extinguishers of the aerosol type with metal bodies . This British Standard covers single use fire extinguishers for various applications, including but not limited to, usage in cars, motor homes, etc. This British Standard is applicable to extinguishers containing powder or water-based media which allow use for single fire class applications. Clean agents are excluded from the Scope of this British Standard. Requirements are specified for minimum performance in extinguishing test fires of Class A, B and F, as defined in BS EN 2. NOTE Annex A gives the conditioning treatment to be applied to extinguishers prior to testing, as described in Annex B to Annex I. Annex J gives the use code symbols to be used.
