Gives terms and definition as well as symbols and explanations including examples of the complete designation for a thread. Figures 1 to 4 illustrate details. Tabulates thread dimensions from 1/16 up to and including 6 inch.

Inspection method for taper screw gauges
When formulated prior to 1895, regular Acme screw threads were intended to replace square threads and a variety of threads of other forms used chiefly for the purpose of producing traversing motions on machines, tools, etc. For current information on Acme threads, see the latest edition of ASME/ANSI B1.5. The Stub Acme thread came into being early in the 1900's. Its use has been generally confined to those unusual applications where a coarse-pitch thread of shallow depth is required due to mechanical or metallurgical considerations. FEDERAL GOVERNMENT USE. When this Standard is approved by the Department of Defense and Federal Agencies and is incorporated into FED-STD H28/13, Screw Thread Standards for Federal Services, Section 13, the use of this Standard by the Federal Government is subject to all the requirements and limitations of FED-STD H28/13.
Stub Acme Screw Threads
This second edition cancals and replaces the first edition (1980). Specifies the verification of cylindrical threads, the dimensions and tolerances of which are given in ISO 228-1. Since this 55o profile has different elements to be verified, it is necessary to provide for several GO and several NOT GO gouges.
Pipe threads where pressure-tight joints are not made on the threads; Part 2 : Verification by means of limit gauges
This Standard provides dimensional tables for external and internal plastic flow interference- fit (Class 5) threads of modified National thread form in the coarse thread series (NC) in sizes 0.250 in. through 1.500 in. This is not the ANSI B1.1 UN thread form. It is intended that designs conforming with this Standard will provide adequate torque conditions which fall within the limits shown in Table 8. The minimum torque is intended to be sufficient to insure that externally threaded members will not loosen in service, the maximum torque establishes a ceiling below which seizing, galling, or torsional failure of the externally threaded components is reduced. This Standard provides for the maximum allowable interference. Appendices A,B,C, and D contain useful information that is supplementary to this Standard, such as reprints of the obsolete tentative and alternate Class 5 standards, US Navy ship specifications for elastic interference-fit coarse thread series from 0.250 in through 2.000 in, US Navy ship specifications for Class 5 Modified which includes nickel-copper-aluminum alloy external threads, and an interference metal comparison of standard to nonstandard interference-fit threads.
