This specification establishes the requirements for welded copper tube with a longitudinal seam free of filler metal produced from sheet or strip of one of the Copper UNS Nos. C10100, C10200, C10300, C10800, C11000, C12000, C12200, and C14200. Copper C11000 welded tube shall not be used in applications where hydrogen embrittlement during heating is a concern. Tempers of the welded tube types are as follows: as-welded: WM50, WM02, or WM04, welded and annealed: W060 and W050, welded and cold drawn: WH00, WH02, and WH04, and fully finished: O60, O50, H55, H58, and H80. The product shall be manufactured by forming the material into a tubular shape on a suitable forming mill and welding shall be accomplished by any process that produces forge or fusion welds. The external flash of forge welded tube shall be removed by scarfing and the internal flash shall be treated by IFI (to remain in the as-welded condition), IFR (scarfing) or IFD (rolling or drawing) technique. The material shall conform to the chemical composition requirements prescribed for copper, phosphorus, and arsenic, as determined by chemical analysis. The welded tubes shall meet the requirements specified for grain size, electrical mass resistivity, mechanical properties such as tensile strength and Rockwell hardness, dimensions, and mass. Performance requirements includes microscopical examination, hydrogen embrittlement susceptibility test, and expansion test. Requirements for tensile, electromagnetic (eddy-current), hydrostatic, and pneumatic tests are detailed. This abstract is a brief summary of the referenced standard. It is informational only and not an official part of the standard; the full text of the standard itself must be referred to for its use and application. 1.1 This specification covers aluminum and aluminum-alloy extruded round tubes either in coils or straight lengths, for general purpose applications such as refrigeration service, gas lines, oil lines, and instrument lines, in the alloys (Note 2) and tempers shown in Table 2 [Table 3], in outside diameters of 0.250 through 0.750 in. [6.00 through 20.008201;mm]. For diameters over 0.500 through 0.750 in. [over 12.50 through 20.008201;mm], the diameter and wall-thickness tolerances and eddy-current test parameters, if required, shall be agreed upon by the producer and the purchaser. Only tubes in aluminum 1200-H111 and 1235-H111 are sized after extrusion to minimize ovalness. (A) Limits are in percent maximum unless shown as a range or otherwise stated.(B) Analysis shall be made for the elements for which limits are shown in this table.(C) For purposes of determining conformance to these limits, an observed value or a calculated value attained from analysis shall be rounded off to the nearest unit in the last right-hand place of figures used in expressing the specified limit, in accordance with the rounding method of Practice E29.(D) Others includes listed elements for which no specific limit is shown as well as unlisted metallic elements. The producer may analyze samples for trace elements not specified in the specification. However, such analysis is not required and may not cover all metallic Others elements. Should any analysis by the producer or the purchaser establish that an Others element exceeds the limit of Each or that the aggregate of several Others elements exceeds the limit of Total, the material shall be considered nonconforming.(E) Other Elements—Total shall be the sum of unspecified metallic elements 0.0108201;% or more, rounded to the second decimal before determining the sum.(F) The aluminum content shall be calculated by subtracting from 100.008201;% the sum of all metallic elements present in amounts of 0.0108201;% or more each, rounded to the second decimal before determining the sum.(G) Vanadium 0.05%, maximum.

16.1 For purposes of determining compliance with the specified limits for requirements of the properties listed in Table 8, an observed value or calculated value shall be rounded as indicated in accordance with the rounding method of Practice E29. 1.1 This specification establishes the requirements for seamless copper water tube suitable for general plumbing, similar applications for the conveyance of fluids, and commonly used with solder, flared, or compression-type fittings. The type of copper water tube suitable for any particular application is determined by the internal or external fluid pressure, by the installation and service conditions, and by local requirements. Means of joining or bending are also factors which affect the selection of the type of tube to be used.2 Note 1: Annealed tube is suitable for use with flared or compression fittings, and with solder-type fittings, provided rounding and sizing of the tube ends is performed where needed. Note 2: Drawn temper tube is suitable for use with solder-type fittings. Types K and L tube, in the drawn temper, are suitable for use with certain types and sizes of compression fittings. Note 3: Fittings used for soldered or brazed connections in plumbing systems are described in ASME B16.18 and ASME B16.22. 1.2 The tube shall be produced from the following coppers, and the manufacturer has the option to supply any one of them, unless otherwise specified. Copper UNS No. Previously Used Designation Description
