Nicht abgedeckt werden Ventilatoren, die für einen Anschluss an Rohrleitungen konstruiert wurden und Ventilatoren, die ausschließlich der Luftzirkulation dienen, wie z. B. Decken- und Tischventilatoren. Die in dieser Internationalen Norm beschriebenen Prüfverfahren beziehen sich auf Laborbedingungen. Die Leistungsmessung unter Bedingungen vor Ort ist nicht Bestandteil dieser Norm.

This International Standard deals with the determination of those technical characteristics needed to describe all aspects of the performance of jet fans as defined in ISO 13349. It does not cover those fans designed for ducted applications, nor those designed solely for air circulation, e.g. ceiling fans and table fans. The test procedures described in this International Standard relate to laboratory conditions. The measurement of performance under on-site conditions is not included.

Produktintegrierte Ventilatoren werden als eigenständige (stand-alone) Ventilatoren behandelt. Diese Internationale Norm gilt nicht für: a) Brandgas- und Entrauchungsventilatoren; b) Ventilatoren für industrielle Verfahren; c) Ventilatoren für die Anwendung in Fahrzeugen, Zügen und Flugzeugen; d) Ventilatoren für den Einsatz in explosionsgefährdeten Bereichen; e) Kastenventilatoren, Dachventilatoren und Luftschleiergeräte; f) Strahlventilatoren für den Einsatz in Parkhäusern und zur Tunnelbelüftung.

This clause of Part 1 is replaced by the following. This International Standard deals with the safety of electric fans for household and similar purposes@ their rated voltage being not more than 250 V for single-phase appliances and 480 V for other appliances. NOTE 101 Examples of fans that are within the scope of this standard are ?C ceiling fans; ?C duct fans; ?C partition fans; ?C pedestal fans; ?C table fans. This standard also applies to separate controls supplied with fans. Appliances not intended for normal household use but which nevertheless may be a source of danger to the public@ such as appliances intended for use in shops@ in light industry and on farms@ are within the scope of this standard. As far as is practicable@ this standard deals with the common hazards presented by appliances that are encountered by all persons in and around the home. However@ in general@ it does not take into account ?C persons (including children) whose physical@ sensory or mental capabilities; or lack of experience and knowledge prevents them from using the appliance safely without supervision or instruction; ?C children playing with the appliance. NOTE 102 Attention is drawn to the fact that ?C for appliances intended to be used in vehicles or on board ships or aircraft@ additional requirements may be necessary; ?C in many countries additional requirements are specified by the national health authorities@ the national authorities responsible for the protection of labour and similar authorities. NOTE 103 This standard does not apply to ?C appliances intended exclusively for industrial purposes; ?C appliances intended to be used in locations where special conditions prevail@ such as the presence of a corrosive or explosive atmosphere (dust@ vapour or gas); ?C fans incorporated in other appliances.
