This part of IEC 60974 specifies safety and construction requirements for industrial and professional LIQUID COOLING SYSTEMS used in arc welding and allied processes to cool torches. This document is applicable to LIQUID COOLING SYSTEMS which are stand-alone (separate from the welding equipment) or built-in (housed in a single enclosure with other welding equipment). This document is not applicable to refrigerated cooling systems. NOTE 1 Typical allied processes are electric arc cutting and arc spraying. IEC 60974-4:2010 specifies test procedures for periodic inspection and, after repair, to ensure electrical safety. These test procedures are also applicable for maintenance. This standard is applicable to power sources for arc welding and allied processes designed in accordance with IEC 60974-1 or IEC 60974-6. Stand-alone ancillary equipment designed in accordance with other part of IEC 60974 may be tested in accordance with relevant requirement of this part of IEC 60974. This second edition cancels and replaces the first edition published in 2006. It constitutes a technical revision. The main significant technical changes with respect to the previous edition are the following: - title is amended; - scope is extended to equipment designed in accordance with IEC 60974-6; - complementary instructions from the manufacturer shall be followed; - qualification of test personnel is clarified (see 4.1); - plasma cutting power sources are excluded from no-load voltage test (see 5.6); - voltage reducing device functional test is simplified (see 6.3); - supply voltage is recorded in test report (see 7.1).

IEC 62135-1:2015(E) applies to equipment for resistance welding and allied processes and includes single and multiple welding stations which may be manually or automatically loaded and/or started. This second edition cancels and replaces the first edition published in 2008. This edition constitutes a technical revision. This edition includes the following significant technical changes with respect to the previous edition: - creepage distances for pollution degree 4 are no longer valid (see Table 2); - insulation requirements for Class II equipment are defined (see Table 3); - dielectric test voltage interpolation restriction lower limit is changed to 220 V and interpolation for control and welding circuit is clarified (see Table 4); - maximum temperature for insulation systems are reviewed in accordance with current edition of IEC 60085 (see Table 7); - marking of terminals is defined (see 10.3); - table for nominal voltages of supply networks is changed adopting Table B.2 of IEC 60664-1:2007 in place of the Table B.1 values referenced in the previous edition to provide for equipment to be connected to both earthed and unearthed systems. The change impacts the creepage and clearance distance requirements for some supply voltage ratings (see Annex A); - touch current in fault condition are measurement procedures are clarified (see 6.4.4 and Annex C); - welding circuit touch current is defined (see 6.2.6); - touch current in normal condition are clarified and moved in protection against electric shock in normal service (see 6.3.7); - heating test conditions are clarified (see 7.1.1); - external surface temperature rise limitation is changed (see 7.3.2).

This part of IEC 60974 is applicable to manual, mechanically guided, air-cooled, liquid-cooled, motorized, spool-on and fume extraction torches. In this part of IEC 60974, a torch consists of the torch body, the cable-hose assembly and other components. This part of IEC 60974 is also applicable to a cable-hose assembly connected between a power source and ancillary equipment. This part of IEC 60974 is not applicable to electrode holders for manual metal arc welding or air-arc cutting/gouging. NOTE 1 Typical allied processes are electric arc cutting and arc spraying. NOTE 2 Other components are listed in Table A.1. NOTE 3 In this part of IEC 60974, the terms "torch" and "gun" are interchangeable. For convenience "torch" has been used in the following text.
