IEC 61753-085-02:2021 contains the minimum initial test and measurement requirements and severities which a fibre-optic pigtailed coarse wavelength division multiplexing (CWDM) device satisfies in order to be categorised as meeting the requirements of category C (indoor controlled environment), as defined in Annex A of IEC 61753-1:2018. CWDM is defined in IEC 62074‑1. This first edition cancels and replaces IEC 61753-085-2 published in 2008. This edition constitutes a technical revision. This edition includes the following specific technical change with respect to IEC 61753-085-2: change of test conditions harmonizing with IEC 61753-1:2018.

IEC 60793-2-70: 2017 This part of IEC 60793 is applicable to optical fibre types D1, D2, D3, as described in Table 1. These fibres are polarization-maintaining fibre types, and are used or can be incorporated in information transmission equipment and optical fibre cable. These fibres are available for use in optical transport networks. Three types of requirements apply to these fibres: - general requirements defined in IEC 60793-2; - specific requirements common to the category D polarization-maintaining fibres covered in this document and which are given in Clause 4; - particular requirements applicable to individual fibre types or specific applications, which are defined in Annexes A to C. Table 1 – Categories of glass core/glass clad polarization-maintaining fibres Category Type Description D1 Polarization-maintaining fibre suitable for use at 980 nm This category of polarization-maintaining fibre is optimised for polarization-maintaining ability in the 980 nm region. This fibre is used for erbium-doped fibre amplifier. IEC 60794-1-22:2017 is available as IEC 60794-1-22:2017 RLV which contains the International Standard and its Redline version, showing all changes of the technical content compared to the previous edition. IEC 60794-1-22:2017 defines test procedures to be used in establishing uniform requirements for the environmental performance of: - optical fibre cables for use with telecommunication equipment and devices employing similar techniques, and - cables having a combination of both optical fibres and electrical conductors. Throughout this document, the wording "optical cable" can also include optical fibre units, microduct fibre units, etc. See IEC 60794-1-2 for a reference guide to test methods of all types and for general requirements and definitions. This second edition cancels and replaces the first edition published in 2012. It constitutes a technical revision. This second edition includes the following significant technical changes with respect to the previous edition: - new test method designation F16 – Compound flow (drip) [E14 in IEC 60794-1-21]; - new test method F17 – Cable shrinkage test (fibre protrusion); - new test method F18 – Mid-span temperature cycling test. IEC 60794-1-31:2018 which is a generic specification, covers optical fibre ribbons. Requirements which are described in this part apply to optical fibre ribbon cables for use with telecommunication equipment and devices employing similar techniques, in particular optical fibre cables in IEC 60794-2 for indoor use and in IEC 60794-3 for outdoor use. IEC 60793-1-60:2017 defines test methods for both the phase beat length, and the group beat length. These two parameters are defined differently, and will give different results depending on the type of polarization-maintaining (PM) fibre. The phase beat length is the relevant parameter for the fibres ability to maintain a high extinction ratio. This is described in more details in Annexes A and B.
