This part of ISO 16232 defines methods for determining the size and number of contaminant particles, which have been extracted from components and deposited on the surface of a membrane filter, as determined by using either a light optical microscope (LM) or a scanning electron microscope (SEM). The result of this measurement is the particle size distribution on the membrane filter. As the function of parts and components can be impaired by the presence of a single or a few critical particles, a complete analysis of the total membrane filter surface is essential. These analyses can be performed either manually or automatically using Image Analysis (IA) techniques if the appropriate equipment is available.

This part of ISO 16232 describes the principles of extraction of contaminants by test on a laboratory functional test bench with the test liquid flowing under pressure or under vacuum. It is applicable to both active and passive components through which the fluid can easily flow. Unless otherwise specified, this part of ISO 16232 deals with particulate contamination only. It does not, therefore, cover appearance defects or contamination by liquid or gaseous materials. It covers the amount and the nature of residual particles resulting from manufacturing processes and from the environment.

Hose assemblies shall be suitable for 1.72 MPa (250 psi) maximum working pressure with end fittings and 0.69 MPa (100 psi) maximum working pressure with user applied clamps.

This SAE Recommended Practice defines minimum performance standards, qualification requirements, and minimum documentation requirements for Integrated Lap and Shoulder Restraint (to) equipped Seats (IL&SRTS). The goal is to achieve comfort, durability, and occupant protection under expected and foreseeable normal operation loads. The document attempts to define test and evaluation criteria to demonstrated performance at peak operational loads, while attempting to maintain the seats ability to meet loads set forth in FMVSS 207, 210, and ECE 14, 16, and 17. This document also provides guidance for design by enumerating certain design goals to enhance comfort, serviceability, and safety. Guidance for test procedures, measurements, equipment, and interpretation of results may be presented to promote uniform techniques and to achieve acceptable data. While this document addresses system performance, responsibility for the seating systems is divided between the seat supplier and the vehicle OEM. The seat suppliers responsibility consists of meeting all the established system performance requirements and obtaining and supplying to the vehicle OEM all the data prescribed by this document. The vehicle OEM has the ultimate system responsibility in assuring that all requirements for safe seat applications have been met. This document addresses the static performance criteria for IL&SRTS systems applied to licensed motor vehicles for purposes of transportation.

This specification covers hose fabricated from wire braid and synthetic rubber, assembled with end fittings for use in automotive applications up to 10.3 MPa (1500 psi) maximum pressure, as flexible connections within the temperature range of -40 ?C to 121 ?C (-40 ?F to +250 ?F) average, 13.5 ?C (275 ?F) maximum peaks. The specification in this SAE Standard originated in the SAE-ASTM Technical Committee on Automotive Rubber (other than tires). They represent the correlation of the best information available from research investigation and production experience on the minimum constructional and performance characteristics essential for new power steering assemblies used as original or replacement equipment. This standard applies to passenger cars. It may prove useful to truck manufacturers, but it is not to be presented as present practices. They also represent the minimum quality recognized by original equipment manufacturers and hose suppliers as essential for satisfactory and safe operation by the hose itself and other coacting parts of the power steering system. The original equipment manufacturer may, at his option, add or alter tests through OEM specifications.
