1.1 Scope8212;This specification covers the performance requirements for the Type I Cargo Bed Cover (CBC). The Type I Cargo Bed Cover is a removable general purpose rigid enclosure for the cargo bed of the M1152A1, M1152A1 with B2 Armor Kit, M1037, M1042, M1097, and M1113 High-Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle (HMMWV). The Type I CBC provides environmental protection and security for mission equipment and items of general transport. 1.2 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as standard. The values given in parentheses are mathematical conversions to inch-pound units that are provided for information only and are not considered standard. 1.3 The following safety hazards caveat pertains only to the test required portion, Section 4, of this specification. This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.

The THS processes (transport, handling and storing) of palletised loading units make suitable protection necessary in order to protect the goods stacked on a load carrier (pallet), such as boxes, sacks, crates, barrels, from external mechanical and climatic exposure and to ensure ease of handling. The tasks of loading unit protection as, well as the influence of THS exposure and of the characteristics of the goods, are detailed in guideline VDI 3968 Part 1. In addition, some essential exposure specifications (following VDI 2700) and calculation modalities are presented in this guideline by which the necessary retention forces of stretch film can be computed. On this basis, universal conclusions can be drawn on a loading unit protection that matches the exposure. Different types and qualities of stretch film and stretch wrap machines with varied degrees of automation, working methods and stretching techniques are available for creating stretch-wrapped loading units. The user requires information on the general suitability of protective measures for specific fields of application (e. g. type of loading unit and exposure). Filmspecific quality metrics make it possible to select the suitable protective materials.

This guideline applies to any slip-inhibiting materials used on road vehicles (see VDI 2700, Section 1.2.1). The present guideline defines the requirements applicable to this field of use. Transport conditions are of decisive importance when selecting suitable slip-inhibiting materials and corresponding methods for load securing. Not only should the dimensions, weight, and material of the load be taken into consideration, but also the specific characteristics of the loading surface. This guideline describes the possible applications, handling, use and safety requirements, inspection and criteria for disposal for slip-inhibiting materials in general, and for anti-slip mats in particular. Basically, Basically, all relevant guidelines and standards relating to load securing do apply, so that cargo can be transported safely and securely. Whenever slip-inhibiting materials are used properly, dangers can be avoided which could arise, for example, from a load being positioned on the slipinhibiting material in such a way that the load is also in direct contact at another point with the underlying surface (e. g. loading surface) which has a lower coefficient of friction than the slip-inhibiting material. To ensure safety, slip-inhibiting materials must be deployed in a way that they are externally visible without the load having to be lifted or shifted.

This guideline applies to all car transporters which are suitable for the transport of passenger cars, minibuses, and light commercial vehicles with an actual weight below 4,0 t, and which are equipped as specified in this guideline. This guideline is intended for use by the drivers, owners and loaders of vehicles and vehicle-body builders. Responsibilities are derived from the national rules and regulations concerning road traffic and labour protection, as well as from the relevant laws and regulations of the EU member states.

This guideline applies to all vehicles mentioned in Section 1.2 which are used for transporting skips as defined in Section 1.3 for skip loader vehicles. It is intended for the use of consignors, shippers, drivers, vehicle owners, and such persons as the law, ordinances, contracts or other codes of practise make responsible for securing the load and for safe transportation. Their areas of responsibility derive from national regulations, statutory provisions and also from the corresponding legislation and regulations in other countries in the case of international transportation. This guideline does not apply to transportation by rail, inland waterways, sea or air, which will be covered by separate guidelines or standards. For this reason, means of securing loads which are demonstrably equivalent or which provide better load securing can also be used. The present guideline is based on guidelines VDI 2700, VDI 2700 Part 2, Part 3.1, Part 3.2, and Part 4. It deals solely with the securing of skips on skip loader vehicles. According to the requirements formulated in guideline VDI 2700, Section 3.7.3 ff, the load inside the skip must be adequately secured.

Not all vehicle bodies are suitable for transporting beverage products safely. This guideline applies firstly to particularly robust vehicles constructed on the basis of DIN EN 12642 Code XL for transporting beverages and secondly to securing beverage product cargoes on vehicles with standard bodies. It is intended for the use of consignors, shippers, drivers, vehicle owners, and such persons as the law, ordinances, contracts or other codes of practise make responsible for securing the load and for safe transportation. The areas of responsibility derive from national regulations, statutory provisions and also from the corresponding legislation and regulations in other countries in the case of international transportation and also comply with accepted engineering practice. This guideline does not apply to transportation by rail, sea or air nor does it apply in the case of a combination of modes of transportation where special provisions apply; for example, guideline VDI 2700 Part 7 (Securing of loads in combined freight transport) or DIN EN 283 (Swap bodies) or the cargo securement regulations of Railion Deutschland AG. It is not possible to provide a comprehensive treatment of the large number of beverage packing units, nor the wide variety of load-securing methods and vehicle variants. For this reason, means of securing loads which are demonstrably equivalent or which provide better load securing can also be used. The maximum inertial forces to be applied for securing the load during driving must be supportable. The foundations of the present guideline are the VDI 2700 series of guidelines and guideline VDI 3968.

Properly securing cargoes when LTL loads are being transported, especially in the case of transportation of consolidated loads (see Note), still represents a considerable challenge for the responsible company, driver and vehicle loaders. This is primarily due to the heterogeneity of these cargoes which consist mainly of individualized unit loads (an item of cargo made up of a single or several LTLs and which, as it passes down the transportation chain or through goods distribution, is transported, handled and/or stored as a whole) which during transportation may even be handled on a piece by piece basis and which are not grouped together into larger load units.

This guideline applies to all vehicles mentioned in Section 1 which are used for transporting reinforcing steel and rod wire. This guideline does not apply to transportation by rail, sea or air, which will be covered by other guidelines or standards. A comprehensive treatment of every case has to be ruled out on account of not only the wide variety of reinforcing steel products and the possible combinations of individual products in a load but also the large number of different load-securing methods and special vehicles. For this reason, means of securing loads which are demonstrably equivalent or which provide better load securing can also be used.
