This part of DIN ISO 8119 lays down the terms and definitions used for latch type needles. These needles have a flat or round cross-section, a hook-shaped head, a reciprocating latch on a fixed pivot situated in front of the head. During the loop forming cycle the latch is opened and closed on the head by the action of the yarn.
