All carbon and alloy H-band steels are shown, along with their corresponding minimum and maximum hardenability limits, for which sufficient hardenability data have been established and for grades which use the standard end-quench test. As hardenability data are accumulated for other grades, this SAE standard will be revised to include such grades.

Restricted hardenability steels have been in use for some time but the specific restrictions for a particular grade depend upon customer needs and vary from mill to mill. Such steels are desirable to provide more controlled heat treatment response and dimensional control for critical parts. Because of increasing interest in steels with restricted hardenability, the SAE Iron and Steel Technical Committee directed division 8 to prepare a set of standard steels with restricted hardenability. In 1993, the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM) adopted the twelve SAE restricted hardenability steels and added ten more. SAE decided to include in SAE J1868 the additional 10 steels. In general, steels with restricted hardenability (RH Steels) will exhibit a hardness range not greater than 5 HRC at the initial position on the end- quench hardenability bar and not greater than 65% of the hardness range for standard H-band steels (SAE J1268) in the "inflection" region. Generally the restricted hardenability band follows the middle of the corresponding standard H-band. An example of the RH band compared with the standard H-band is given for SAE 4140.

1.1 This specification2 covers two kinds of rolls used in machinery for producing corrugated paperboard. Rolls are fabricated of forged bodies and trunnions. The trunnions may be bolted or shrink assembled on one or both ends of the body. A seal weld may be made at the body/trunnion interface. Roll shells are made of carbon/manganese, or low alloy steel as hereinafter described, and are heat treated prior to assembly. Pressure rolls may be ordered surface hardened as Condition H, or without surface hardening as Condition S. Provision is made in Supplementary Requirements S1 and S3 for the optional surface hardening of corrugating rolls. 1.2 Corrugating and pressure rolls made to this specification shall not exceed 30 in. [760 mm] in inside diameter. The wall thickness of the roll body shall not be less than 1/12 of the inside diameter or 1 in. [25 mm], whichever is greater, but shall not exceed 4 in. [100 mm]. The wall thickness of the corrugating roll is measured at the bottom of the corrugations in the location of the trunnion fit. The maximum design temperature (MDT) of the roll is 600°F [315°C] and the maximum allowable working pressure (MAWP) is 250 psi [1.7 MPa]. The minimum design temperature shall be 40°F [4°C] for roll wall thicknesses up to 3 in. [75 mm]. For roll wall thicknesses over 3 in. [75 mm] to 4 in. [100 mm], the minimum design temperature shall be 120°F [50°C]. The maximum stresses on the roll bodies from the combined internal and external loading are limited to 18 750 psi [129 MPa] for the Class 2 pressure roll bodies, and 20 000 psi [138 MPa] for Class 1A, 1B, or 5 pressure or corrugating roll bodies in Grades 1 or 2. For the trunnions, the maximum stresses from the combined internal and external loading are limited to 15 000 psi [103.4 MPa] for Classes 3 or 4, or 20 000 psi [138 MPa] for Classes 1A, 1B, or 5 in Grade 2 only. The Grade 1 strength level is not permissible for trunnions. 1.3 Referring to Table 1, material to Classes 1A, 1B, or 5 shall be used for the manufacture of corrugating or pressure roll shells, and Class 2 shall be used only for pressure roll shells. Trunnions shall be made from forgings in Classes 1A, 1B, or 5 in Grade 2 strength level as restricted by Footnote B in Table 2 or in forgings in either Class 3 or 4. (A) When vacuum carbon deoxidation (VCD) is used the silicon content shall be 0.108201;% maximum. (A) 0.28201;% offset.(B) For trunnion application, a maximum tensile strength of 125 ksi [860 MPa] applies for Grade 2 of Classes 1A, 1B, or 5. 1.4 The values stated in either SI units or inch-pound units are to be regarded separately as standard. The values stated in each system may not be exact equivalents; therefore, each system shall be used independently of the other. Combining values from the two systems may result in non-conformance wi......

This European Standard specifies requirements for automatically blast-cleaned and automatically prefabrication primed structural steel products. This European Standard does not cover manual blast cleaning and/or manual spray painting. NOTE Where the steel is less than 5 mm thick, care should be exercised to ensure it is not deformed by blast cleaning.

This European Standard specifies requirements for weldable structural steels to be used in the fabrication of fixed offshore structures in the form of plates up to and including 150 mm thick. It also specifies sections up to 63 mm thick except for sections delivered in the as-rolled condition which are permitted up to 25 mm thick only. Seamless hollow sections up to and including 40 mm thick and high frequency electric resistance welded hollow sections up to and including 20 mm thick are specified. Greater thicknesses for sections and hollow sections may be agreed, provided the technical requirements of this European Standard are maintained. For plates the thickness limitations are: S355G2+N, S355G5+M, - up to and including 20 mm S355G3+N, S355G6+M - up to and including 40 mm S355GT+N, S355G8+N, S355G9+N, S355G10+N - up to and including 150 mm S355G7+M, S355G8+M, S355G9+M, S355G10+M - up to and including 100 mm S420G1+QT, S420G1+M S420G2+QT, S420G2+M - up to and including 100 mm S46OG1+QT S460G1+M, S460G2+QT, S460G2+M - up to and including 100 mm The standard is applicable to steels for offshore structures designed to operate in the offshore sector but not to steels supplied for the fabrication of subsea pipelines, risers, process equipment, process piping, and other utilities. It is primarily applicable to the North Sea Sector, but may also be applicable in other areas provided that due consideration is given to local conditions e.g. temperature. In the case of hollow sections formed from plate with the seam fusion welded, this European standard covers only the requirements of the plate material. Minimum yield strengths up to 460 MPa are specified together with low temperature impact properties at temperatures down to -40 ℃. This European standard applies to material supplied ex-mill or from merchant's stock.
