1 Scope This International Standard specifies the trimmed sizes of writing paper and certain classes of printed matter. It applies to trimmed sizes of paper for administrative, commercial and technical use, and also to certain classes of printed matter, such as forms, catalogues, etc. It does not necessarily apply to newspapers, published books, posters or other special items which may be the subject of separate International Standards. This International Standard also specifies the method for the indication of the machine direction for trimmed sheets. NOTE In some countries, particularly in North America, different sizes of cut-size office papers are commonly used. For these paper sizes, refer to Reference [1] in the Bibliography.

This specification describes minimum requirements to ensure performance of cut-sized white office papers, including bond, reprographic, and laser printer papers. Grades of brightness and standards for labeling are described. This specification covers virgin, recycled, and recycled content paper products (X1.2). Note 1 -There is currently no similar or equivalent ISO standard.

ISO 22414:2004 specifies a test method for assessing the quality of the cut edge of cut-size office paper. It is applicable to papers of the type described in ISO 216, as well as other cut-size office papers used for printing and copying.
Paper - Cut-size office paper - Measurement of edge quality
Testing of paper - Inkjet mediums - Part 2: Drytime
This standard is valid for newsprint.
Paper - Printing paper - Part 4: Technical delivery specifications for newsprint
Specifies the performance requirements for uncoated cut -size paper for dry toner imaging processes (i.e. copying paper), in 80 g/m2 and in A4 format based on EN ISO 216. Other grammages and sizes of the ISO-A series are covered by this standard, as long as the requirements specified in this standard are fulfilled.
Printing and business paper - Requirements for copy paper for dry toner imaging processes
This European Standard specifies the determination of the adhesion of dry toner on paper sheet, printed with imaging machines such as copier machines and printers. The chosen measuring range allows discrimination of toner adhesion around the level found with many common paper and machine combination. Since divers imaging processes give different toner adhesion, the described method at constant IGT speed is not advised to compare degree of toner adhesion between different types of machines.
