1.1 This specification provides requirements for membrane-forming liquids suitable for use as curing compounds and sealers on freshly placed concrete and as sealers on hardened concrete. These membranes have special properties, such as, alkali resistance, acid resistance, adhesion-promoting qualities, and resistance to degradation by UV light.Note 1For liquid membrane-forming curing compounds specified primarily by their ability to retain water in newly placed concrete (and by drying time, and for white pigmented products, reflectance), see Specification C 309.1.2 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as the standard. (Inch pound units are shown in parentheses). The following precautionary caveat pertains only to the test methods portion, Section , of this specification. This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.1.3 This is a performance specification. The allowable composition of products covered by this specification is limited by various local, regional, and national regulations. Issues related to air quality (solvent emission), worker exposure, and other hazards are not addressed here. It is the responsibility of the producers and users of these materials to comply with pertinent regulations.Warning-Some VOC exempt solvents used to meet the regulations are extremely flammable with low auto ignition temperatures and rapid evaporation rates. Consult the manufacturer''s product information sheet for important application and safety information.

5.1 This test method provides a means of evaluating roof membranes, seams, and laps for resistance to water migration from standing water on the roof. This test method evaluates roof membranes when first applied and also after simulated deterioration caused by the ultraviolet energy of the sun. 1.1 This test method covers the determination of water migration resistance of roof membranes including built-up roof membranes, modified bitumen, and single ply roof membranes. The procedures were developed to determine the potential for leakage of water through the roof membranes resulting from a standing head of water and when pressurized with air from the underside. 1.2 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as the standard. The values given in parentheses are for information only. 1.3 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. The connection strength between geosynthetic reinforcement and segmental concrete block units is used in design of reinforced soil retaining walls. This test is used to determine the connection strength for the design of the connection system formed by segmental concrete block units and geosynthetic reinforcement layers in reinforced soil retaining walls. Performing a series of these connection tests at varying normal loads permits development of a relationship between connection strength and normal load. This relationship may be linear, bi-linear, or some other complex mathematical expression. This connection strength test is meant to be a performance test (laboratory or field), therefore, it should be conducted using full-scale system components. The conditions for the test are selected by the user and are not for routine testing. As a performance test on full-scale system components it accounts for some of the variables in construction procedures and materials tolerance normally present for these types of retaining wall systems.1.1 This test method is used to determine the connection properties between a layer of geosynthetic reinforcement and segmental concrete block units used in construction of reinforced soil retaining walls. The test is carried out under conditions determined by the user that reproduce the connection system at full-scale. The results of a series of tests are used to define a relationship between connection strength for a segmental unit-geosynthetic connection system and normal load.1.2 This is a performance test used to determine properties for design of retaining wall systems utilizing segmental concrete units and soil reinforcing geosynthetics, either geotextiles or geogrids. The test is performed on a full-scale construction of the connection and may be run in a laboratory or the field.1.3 The values stated in SI units are regarded as the standard. The values stated in inch-pound units are provided for information only. This standard may involve hazardous materials, operations, and equipment. This practice is intended to measure air flow through materials used to fill joints found in building construction. This practice does not purport to establish all required criteria for the selection of an air barrier assembly. Therefore, the results should be used only for comparison purposes and should not be seen as the equivalent to field installed building systems.1.1 This practice is intended to determine the air leakage rate of aerosol foam sealants as measured in a standardized jig. This practice provides a procedure for preparing the test apparatus and further describes the application of aerosol foam sealant and other joint fillers to the apparatus prior to conducting Test Method E 283.1.2 This practice allows testing laboratories to quantify the air leakage rate of aerosol foam sealants or joint filling products using Test Method E 283 and reporting the data in L/(s m2) according to Practice E 29.1.3 This practice is used in conjunction with Test Method E 283. Although Test Method E 283 is a laboratory test method used with fenestration products, individuals interested in performing field air leakage tests on installed units should reference Test Method E 783 and AAMA 502.1.4 Aerosol foam sealants are used for a variety of end use applications generally intended to reduce air leakage in the building envelope.1.5 Insulating type materials also will be found suitable for evaluation with this practice. 1.6 There are no other known practices or test methods that specify the preparation of the assemblies used to determine the air leakage rate of gap filling sealants, dry preformed foams or insulations.1.7 The values given in SI units are the standard. 1.1 Structural sealant glazing, hereinafter referred to as SSG, is an application where a sealant not only can function as a barrier against the passage of air and water through a building envelope, but also primarily provides structural support and attachment of glazing or other components to a window, curtain wall, or other framing system.1.2 This guide provides information useful to design professionals, manufacturers, contractors, and others for the design and installation of a SSG system. This information is applicable only to this glazing method when used for a building wall that is not more than 15176; from vertical; however, limited information is included concerning a sloped SSG application.1.3 Only a silicone chemically curing sealant specifically formulated, tested, and marketed for structural sealant glazing is acceptable for a SSG system application.1.4 The committee with jurisdiction for this standard is not aware of any comparable standard published by other organizations.1.5 The calculations and values stated in SI units are to be regarded as the standard. Values in parenthesis and inch-pound units are for information only.
