This test method may be used to determine the total nitrogen content of certain unknown organic samples, or to assay known nitrogen containing organic compounds. This test method may be used on organic materials in which the complete conversion of nitrogen to ammonium sulfate can be accomplished by digestion in a mixture of sulfuric acid, potassium sulfate, and mercuric oxide. It cannot be used on materials containing N–O, N–N linkages. This test method assumes that ammonia can be quantitatively measured by distillation from an alkaline solution into a measured volume of standard acid.1.1 This test method covers the determination of total nitrogen in nitrogen-containing organic compounds. This test method calibrates or demonstrates conformity of the humidity level in a purge gas generated by a humidity generator at a fixed temperature. Such calibration or demonstration of conformity may be required by quality initiatives. Conformance demonstrates that the humidified purge gas is within some established limits. Calibration provides an offset and or slope value that may be used for establishing the relative humidity scale of the apparatus.1.1 This test method describes the humidity calibration (or conformance) of humidity generators for use with thermogravimetric analyzers and other thermal analysis apparatus. This part of ISO 6145 specifies a method for the preparation of calibration gas mixtures by using electrochemical generation of a calibration component and introduction into a complementary gas flow. By alteration of the gas flow or the charge passed through the cell electrolyte, it is possible to change the composition of the gas mixture. The relative expanded uncertainty of the calibration gas content, U, obtained by multiplying the relative combined standard uncertainties by a coverage factor, k = 2, is not greater than 5 %. The method described in this part of ISO 6145 is intended to be applied to the preparation of calibration gas mixtures in the volume fraction ranges (0,1 to 250) ×10.

This practice is used for reporting the experimental conditions as specified in Section 6 in the “Methods” or “Experimental” sections of other publications (subject to editorial restrictions). The report would include specific conditions for each data set, particularly, if any parameters are changed for different sputter depth profile data sets in a publication. The fundamental method for obtaining CIE tristimulus values or other color coordinates for describing the colors of radiant sources is by the use of spectroradiometric measurements. These measurements are used by summation together with numerical values representing the CIE 1931 Standard Observer (CIE Publication 15:2004) and normalized to Km, the maximum spectral luminous efficacy function, with a value of 683 lm/W. This practice provides a procedure for selecting the operating parameters of spectroradiometers used for providing the desired precision spectroradiometric data, for their calibration, and for the physical standards required for calibration. Special requirements for characterizing sources of light possessing narrow or discontinuous spectra are presented and discussed.
