This European Standard specifies a test method to determine the explosion points of flammable liquids in air. This European Standard applies to flammable liquids at atmospheric pressure and at temperatures in the range from - 50 °C to 300 °C. This European standard must not be applied to explosives or materials which, under the test conditions, are thermally unstable liquids (e.g. polymerizing/oxidizing materials).

This part of ISO 16312 provides technical criteria and guidance for evaluating physical fire models (i.e. laboratory combustion devices and operating protocols) used in effluent toxicity studies for obtaining data on the effluent from products and materials under fire conditions relevant to life safety[2]. Relevant analytical methods, calculation methods, bioassay procedures and prediction of the toxic effects of fire effluents can be referenced in ISO 19701[3], ISO 19702[4], ISO 19703[5], ISO 19706[6], ISO 13344[7], and ISO 13571.

This test method is used to determine the performance of a firestop system with respect to exposure to a standard time-temperature fire test and a hose stream test. The performance of a firestop system is dependent upon the specific assembly of materials tested including the number, type, and size of penetrations and the floors or walls in which it is installed. Two ratings are established for each firestop system. An F rating is based upon flame occurrence on the unexposed surface, while the T rating is based upon the temperature rise as well as flame occurrence on the unexposed side of the firestop system. These ratings, together with detailed performance data such as the location of through-openings and temperatures of penetrating items are intended to be one factor in assessing performance of firestop systems.1.1 This test method is applicable to firestop systems of various materials and construction. Firestop systems are intended for use in openings in fire-resistive walls and floors that are evaluated in accordance with Test Methods E119. 1.2 Tests conducted in conformance with this test method record firestop system performance during the test exposure; but such tests shall not be construed to determine suitability of the firestop system for use after test exposure. 1.3 This test method also measures the resistance of firestop systems to an external force stimulated by a hose stream. However, this test method shall not be construed as determining the performance of the firestop system during actual fire conditions when subjected to forces such as failure of cable support systems and falling debris. 1.4 The intent of this test method is to develop data to assist others in determining the suitability of the firestops for use where fire resistance is required. 1.5 This test method does not apply to membrane penetrations of a floor-ceiling assembly or roof-ceiling assembly that are tested as part of the assembly in accordance with Test Methods E119. 1.6 This test method does not apply to membrane penetrations of load-bearing walls. 1.7 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regarded as standard.
