This International Standard specifies three methods for measuring the flexibility of a hose (Method A1, Method B and Method C1) where the deformation of the hose is measured and two methods for measuring stiffness (Method A2 and Method C2) by measuring the force to bend the hose when rubber or plastic hoses or tubing are bent to a specific radius at ambient temperature. Method A1 and A2 are suitable for hoses and tubing of internal diameter up to and including 80 mm. Method A1 allows the measurement of the flexibility of the hose by measuring the reduction in outside diameter when the hose is compressed between two plates. Method A2 provides a means of measuring the force required to reach a specific bend radius (stiffness), when the hose is compressed as between two plates. The test may be carried out at a specified internal pressure. Method B is suitable for hoses and tubing up to and including 100 mm and provides a means of assessing the behaviour of the hose when bent around a mandrel. The final mandrel diameter used may be taken as the minimum bend radius of the hose. As this value is determined by the reduction of the O.D which can be used as a measure of the flexibility of the hose. The hose being tested may be unpressurised, pressurised or under vacuum and if required with the curvature or against the curvature of the hose if such curvature is present. Method C1 and C2 are suitable for hose of 100 mm and above. Method C1 provides a means of determining the flexibility of the hose at the minimum bend radius. Method C2 provides a method of measuring the stiffness of the hose at the bend radius.

This document specifies design, construction, type and production testing, and marking requirements for non-insulated cryogenic flexible hoses used for the transfer of cryogenic fluids within the following range of operating conditions: — working temperature: from −270 °C to +65 °C; — nominal size (DN): from 10 to 100. End fittings for mounting of any couplings are within the scope of this document, but the couplings are subject to other standards. It is intended that the hose be designed and tested to satisfy the generally accepted rated pressure i.e. at least PR 40. Hoses may be then selected with a PR equal to or greater than the maximum allowable pressure (PS) of the equipment to which it is to be used.

This document specifies requirements for two types, seven classes and three grades of wire- or textilereinforced dredging hoses with nominal sizes ranging from 100 to 1200. Within each class, all grades and sizes have the same maximum working pressure. Such hoses are suitable for the delivery or suction of seawater or freshwater mixed with silt, sand, coral and small stones with a specific gravity in the range from 1,0 to 2,3 at ambient temperatures ranging from −10 °C to +40 °C. This document covers two types of hose, as follows: — type 1: floating type, for delivery only, which includes flotation material to give the hose buoyancy; — type 2: submarine type for delivery and suction. This document does not specify requirements concerning the service life of hoses or hose assemblies. Specifying such requirements is the responsibility of the customer, in consultation with the hose manufacturer.

This document specifies methods of test for determining general physical and mechanical properties of rubber threads, as well as specific mechanical properties of such threads in contact with fabrics. Owing to the comparatively small cross-section and the unusual conditions of service of this material, certain special methods have been developed. Some of the tests included in this document are not entirely suitable for threads made from certain synthetic rubbers (e.g. urethane rubber). These tests are intended for natural or synthetic polyisoprene rubbers. Comparisons can only be made on new rubber threads or on those with identical processing histories. In the interpretation of results from threads which have been subjected to spooling, fabrication or any other process, the previous history is important, and what is known of this and of any relaxation treatments used is intended to be reported.
