This part of IEC 60404 specifies the methods used for determining the resistivity, density and stacking factor of grain-oriented and non-oriented electrical steel strip and sheet. These quantities are necessary to establish the physical characteristics of the material. Moreover, the density is necessary to allow specified values of the magnetic polarization, resistivity and stacking factor to be determined. Since these properties are functions of temperature, the measurements will be made at an ambient temperature of (23 ±5) °C except when specified in this document.

This document specifies requirements for the following grades of wrought tool steels: a) non-alloy cold-work tool steels; c) alloy hot-work tool steels; b) alloy cold-work tool steels; d) high-speed tool steels. If not stated otherwise, this document applies to all types of hot-rolled, forged, cold-drawn or coldrolled products or products produced by powder metallurgy, which are supplied in one of the surface and heat-treatment conditions given in 6.2 and Table 1. NOTE Tables 2, 4, 6 and 8 cover only those steels which have gained certain international importance, which does not mean, however, that they are available in all industrial countries. In addition, a number of other steels for tools are specified in regional, national or company standards. Where the heat resistance of the tools is of particular importance, as for example in the case of tools for hot forming glass, the material selection is based on ISO 4955.

This document specifies the requirements for flat products for pressure equipment, made of thermomechanically rolled weldable fine grain steels as specified in Tables A.1 and B.1. The steels are not suitable for hot forming. Until now, no sufficient data for the standardization of the elevated temperature properties of these steels are available. If their use at such temperatures is intended, the conditions for this are specially agreed upon between the interested parties. The requirements and definitions of ISO 9328-1 also apply to this document. NOTE 1 Fine grain steels are understood to be steels with a ferritic grain size of 6 or finer when tested in accordance with ISO 643. 1.1 This specification covers high-strength, low-alloy, hot- and cold-rolled sheet and strip in cut lengths or coils, intended for use in structural and miscellaneous purposes, where savings in weight or added durability are important. These steels have enhanced atmospheric corrosion resistance and are supplied in three types: Type 2 contains 0.208201;% minimum copper based on cast or heat analysis (0.188201;% minimum Cu for product check). Type 4 and Type 5 contains additional alloying elements and provides a level of corrosion resistance substantially better than that of carbon steels with or without copper addition (Note 1). When properly exposed to the atmosphere, Type 4 and Type 5 steels can be used in the bare (unpainted) condition for many applications. Note 1: For methods of establishing the atmospheric corrosion resistance of low-alloy steels, see Guide G101. 1.2 The values stated in either SI units or inch-pound units are to be regarded separately as standard. The values stated in each system may not be exact equivalents; therefore, each system shall be used independently of the other. Combining values from the two systems may result in non-conformance with the standard. 1.3 Welding—In general, the steels listed in this specification are weldable with commonly obtained welding electrodes. When the steel is to be welded, a suitable welding procedure based on its composition should be used, taking into account intended use and service temperatures. Note 2: For a general discussion of the weldability of steel and carbon equivalents, consult Appendix X3 of A6/A6M. 1.4 This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee.

1.1 This specification2 covers four grades of carbon steel forgings for boilers, pressure vessels, and associated equipment. Note 1: Designations have been changed as follows: Current Formerly Grade 1 Class 1 Grade 2 Class 2 Grade 3 Class 3 Grade 4 Class 4 1.2 Supplementary requirements are provided for use when additional testing or inspection is desired. These shall apply only when specified individually by the purchaser in the order. 1.3 The values stated in either SI units or inch-pound units are to be regarded separately as standard. The values stated in each system may not be exact equivalents; therefore, each system shall be used independently of the other. Combining values from the two systems may result in non-conformance with the standard. 1.4 Unless the order specifies the applicable “M” specification designation, the material shall be furnished to the inch-pound units. 1.5 This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee.

1.1 This specification covers structural quality carbon steel plates furnished to chemical composition requirements. 1.2 The plates are available in several standard steel grades and non-standard grades. 1.3 The plates are usually furnished in the as-rolled (hot-rolled) condition. 1.4 Supplementary requirements are provided for additional requirements that may be specified on the order. 1.5 When the steel is to be welded, it is presupposed that a welding procedure suitable for the grade of steel and intended use or service will be utilized. See Appendix X3 of Specification A6/A6M for information on weldability. 1.6 The values stated in either SI units or inch-pound units are to be regarded separately as standard. The values stated in each system may not be exact equivalents; therefore, each system shall be used independently of the other. Combining values from the two systems may result in non-conformance with the standard. 1.7 This international standard was developed in accordance with internationally recognized principles on standardization established in the Decision on Principles for the Development of International Standards, Guides and Recommendations issued by the World Trade Organization Technical Barriers to Trade (TBT) Committee.

This document is applicable to continuous hot-rolled steel sheet in coils of higher yield strength with improved formability and heavy thickness for cold forming. The steel can be treated to achieve inclusion control. It is generally used in the as-delivered condition. As a result of the combination of higher strength and improved formability, it is possible to obtain savings in mass along with better weldability. The product is intended for applications where parts are to be fabricated requiring better formability than is provided by normal high-yield-strength steel sheet. The steel sheet is produced in a number of grade designations designed to be compatible with differing application requirements. This document does not apply to — steels intended for boilers or pressure vessels, — steels designated as commercial quality, drawing quality or structural quality, — steels rolled to cold-reduced products, — steels designated as weathering steels, having increased atmospheric corrosion resistance, or — those products rolled on a plate mill.
