This Standard applies to Class A, single- and three-phase, ground-fault circuit-interrupters intended for protection of personnel, for use only in grounded neutral systems in accordance with the National Electrical Code (NEC), ANSI/NFPA 70, the Canadian Electrical Code, C22.1 (CEC), and Electrical Installations (Use), NOM-001-SEDE. These devices are intended for use on alternating current (AC) circuits of 120 V, 208Y/120 V, 120/240 V, 127 V, or 220Y/127 V, 60 Hz circuits.Note: In Canada, the text "intended for protection of personnel" is excluded. These requirements do not cover ground-fault circuit-interrupters intended for use in circuits served by a transformer having windings wholly insulated from each other. This Standard applies to all Class A ground-fault circuit-interrupters. These Class A GFCIs are permitted to be integrated into other devices, in which case, besides complying with this Standard, these devices are to comply with the corresponding applicable Standard for the device in question. This Standard includes minimum requirements for the function, construction, performance, and markings of ground-fault circuit-interrupters included in the scope. This Standard is intended to cover only Class A GFCI devices.

Clause 1 of IEC 61058-1:2016 is applicable, except as follows. Addition: This document applies to independently mounted switches for appliances (mechanical or electronic) actuated by hand, by foot or by other human activity, to operate or control electrical appliances and other equipment for household or similar purposes with a rated voltage not exceeding 480 V and a rated current not exceeding 63 A. These switches are intended to be operated by a person, via an actuating member or by actuating a sensing unit. The actuating member or sensing unit can be integral with or arranged separately, either physically or electrically, from the switch and involve transmission of a signal, for example, electrical, optical, acoustic or thermal, between the actuating member or sensing unit and the switch. Switches which incorporate additional control functions governed by the switch function are within the scope of this document. This document also covers the indirect actuation of the switch when the operation of the actuating member or sensing unit is provided by a remote control or by a part of an appliance or equipment, such as a door. NOTE 1 Electronic switches can be combined with mechanical switches giving full disconnection or micro- disconnection. NOTE 2 Electronic switches without a mechanical switch in the supply circuit provide only electronic disconnection. Therefore, the circuit on the load side is always considered to be live. NOTE 3 For switches used in tropical climates, additional requirements can apply. NOTE 4 Attention is drawn to the fact that the standards for appliances can contain additional or alternative requirements for switches. NOTE 5 Throughout this document, the word "appliance" means "appliance or equipment".

DIN VDE 0641-21 (VDE 0641-21) applies to selective main circuit-breakers (SMCBs) for operation at 50/60 Hz, having a rated voltage not exceeding 440 V (between phases), a rated current not exceeding 125 A and a rated short-circuit capacity not exceeding 50000 A.

Clause 1 of IEC 61058-1:2016 is applicable except as follows: Addition: This document applies to cord switches (mechanical or electronic) for appliances actuated by hand, by foot or by other human activity, to operate or control electrical appliances and other equipment for household or similar purposes with a rated voltage not exceeding 250 V and a rated current not exceeding 16 A. Throughout this document, the word "appliance" means "appliance or equipment". These switches are intended to be operated by a person, via an actuating member or by actuating a sensing unit. The actuating member or sensing unit can be integral or arranged separately from the switch. The transmission of a signal between the actuating member or sensing unit and the switch can be made either physically or electrically (for example, electrical, optical, acoustic or thermal). Switches which incorporate additional control functions governed by the switch function are within the scope of this document. This document also covers the indirect actuation of the switch when the operation of the actuating member or sensing unit is provided by a remote control or a part of an appliance such as a door. NOTE 1 Electronic switches can be combined with mechanical switches giving full disconnection or micro-disconnection. NOTE 2 Electronic switches without a mechanical switch in the supply circuit provide only electronic disconnection. Therefore, the circuit on the load side is always considered to be live. This part of IEC 60127 relates to fuse resistors with particular overcurrent protection rated up to AC 500 V and/or DC 500 V for printed circuits and other substrate systems, used for the protection of electric appliances, electronic equipment and component parts thereof, normally intended to be used indoors. It does not apply to fuse resistors with particular overcurrent protection for appliances intended to be used under special conditions, such as in a corrosive or explosive atmosphere. The object of this part of IEC 60127 is a) to establish uniform requirements for fuse resistors with particular overcurrent protection so as to protect appliances or parts of appliances in the most suitable way; b) to define the performance of the fuse resistors with particular overcurrent protection, so as to give guidance to manufacturers of electrical appliances and electronic equipment and to ensure replacement of fuse resistors with particular overcurrent protection by those of similar dimensions and characteristics; c) to establish uniform test methods for fuse resistors with particular overcurrent protection, so as to allow verification of the values (for example rated dissipation, functioning characteristic and rated breaking capacity values) specified by the manufacturer. Manufacturers of fuse resistors with particular overcurrent protection shall ensure on their own responsibility that their products comply with the requirements of the resistor-related standards IEC 60115-1, IEC 60115-4-101 and IEC 60115-4-1021. This part of IEC 60127 applies in addition to the requirements of IEC 60127-1.
