This International Standard specifies general procedures to integrate environmental aspects into design and development processes of electrical and electronic products.
Environmentally conscious design for electrical and electronic products (IEC 62430:2009); German version EN 62430:2009
This International Standard specifies requirements and procedures to integrate environmental aspects into design and development processes of electrical and electronic products, including combination of products, and the materials and components of which they are composed (hereafter referred to as products).
Environmentally conscious design for electrical and electronic products
Covers safety requirements for electrical and electronic apparatus.

This part of IEC 60068 specifies whisker tests for electric or electronic components representing the finished stage, with tin or tin-alloy finish. However, the standard does not specify tests for whiskers that may grow as a result of external mechanical stress. This test method is employed by a relevant specification (international component or application specification) with transfer of the test severities to be applied and with defined acceptance criteria. Where tests described in this standard are considered for other components, e.g. mechanical parts as used in electrical or electronic equipment, it should be ensured that the material system and whisker growth mechanisms are comparable.

To ensure compliance with the marking requirements of the WEEE Marking Requirements, this standard is applicable to all manufacturers and producers of electrical and electronic equipment distributed within the EU. This standard will also be of interest
Marking of electrical and electronic equipment in accordance with article 11(2) of Directive 2002/96/EC (WEEE)
This European Standard specifies a marking · of electrical and electronic equipment in accordance with Article 11(2) of Directive 2002/96/EC (WEEE); NOTE This is in addition to the marking requirement in Article 10(3) of this Directive which requires producers to mark electrical and electronic equipment put on the market after 13 August 2005 with a 'crossed-out wheeled bin' symbol. · that applies to electrical and electronic equipment falling under Annex IA of Directive 2002/96/EC, provided the equipment concerned is not part of another type of equipment that does not fall within the scope of this Directive. Annex IB of Directive 2002/96/EC contains an indicative list of the products, which fall under the categories set out in Annex IA of this Directive; · that serves to clearly identify the producer of the equipment and that the equipment has been put on the market after 13 August 2005. The definition of a technical carrier medium for identifying the producer, such as a barcode, electronic data medium or microchip, is not covered by this standard.

This part of IEC 60352 is applicable to solderless press-in connections for use in tele-communication equipment and in electronic devices employing similar techniques. The press-in connection consists of a termination having a suitable press-in zone which is inserted into a plated-through hole of a double-sided or multilayer printed board. Information on materials and data from industrial experience is included in addition to the test procedures to provide electrically stable connections under prescribed environmental conditions. The object of this part of IEC 60352 is to determine the suitability of press-in connections under specified mechanical, electrical and atmospheric conditions. Only compliant press-in zones can be qualified according to this specification. Solid press-in zones are in use. Information about these is given in annex A.

This technical specification is applicable to flat, solid non-metallic specimens of materials used in electrotechnical products. This method is not applicable to the testing of non-flat products such as insulated wires and cables, as it is not possible to obtain a satisfactory distribution of heat flux with such products. This method may not be applicable for materials which melt and flow away from the direct impingement of heat flux and do not give a smoke emission, which is representative of current knowledge from real fire situations. The purpose of this technical specification is to determine, under certain specific experimental conditions, the optical density of smoke produced by materials exposed vertically to a radiant heat source with or without the application of a pilot flame in a closed chamber (i.e. without air-change).
