1.1 This test method covers the measurement of the magnetically induced torque produced by the static magnetic field in the magnetic resonance environment on passive implants (implants that function without the supply of electrical power) and the comparison of that torque to the equivalent torque applied by the gravitational force to the implant.1.2 This test method does not address the issue of magnetically induced force due to spatial gradients in the static magnetic field.1.3 The torque considered here is the static torque due to the interaction of the MRI static magnetic field with the magnetization in the implant. The dynamic torque due to interaction of the static field with eddy currents induced in a rotating device is not addressed in this test method.1.4 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. This part of ISO/TR 14179 presents a means for determining the thermal load carrying capacity of gears that includes measurement on original gear units under practical conditions. This takes the form of either measurement of the power loss, heat dissipation or both, or, in the case of splash-lubricated gear units, the determination of the quasi-stationary temperature in the oil sump. The methods of calculation for all individual components of power loss and heat dissipation described in this part of ISO/TR 14179 are to be regarded as an alternative method.

This part of ISO/TR 14179 utilizes an analytical heat balance model to provide a means of calculating the thermal transmittable power of a single- or multiple-stage gear drive lubricated with mineral oil. The calculation is based on standard conditions of 25 ℃ maximum ambient temperature and 95 ℃ maximum oil sump temperature in a large indoor space, but provides modifiers for other conditions.

These requirments apply to isolating signal and feedback transformers to be use in electronic equipment where only audio, video, and other signal waveforms are transformed. These ttransformers are intended to provide isolation from circuits that are either (1) conductively connected to a branch supply or (2) connected to secondary circuits involving voltages that are considered to present a risk of electric by the nature of their use in an end-product. NOTE 3 Requirements specific to three-phase voltage transformers are not included in this standard but, so far as they are relevant, the requirements in clauses 3 to 11 apply to these transformers and a few references to them are included in those clauses (e.g. see 2.1.5, 5.1.1, 5.2, 11.2.1 and 11.2.2).

This International Standard applies to fixed inductors designed for electromagnetic interference suppression and which fall within the scope of the generic specification, IEC 60938-1. It is restricted to fixed inductors for which safety tests are appropriate. This implies that inductors specified according to this specification will either be connected to mains supplies, when compliance with the mandatory tests of table 1 is necessary, or used in other circuit positions where the equipment specification prescribes that some or all of these safety tests are required. This standard applies to fixed inductors which will be connected to an a.c. mains or other supply with a nominal voltage not exceeding 1 000 V a.c. (r.m.s.) or d.c. between conductors and with a nominal frequency not exceeding 400 Hz.
