This International Standard specifies the requirements for a digital loudspeaker interface based on the IEC 60958 series of standards and the MIDI specification. It maximizes flexibility and value by combining these previously separate standards. Together, the two standards provide a simple and flexible digital interface for loudspeakers. Examples for applications of the interface can be found in Annex C of this standard.

This part of IEC 60268 specifies methods of measurement for the electrical impedance, sensitivity, directional response pattern, dynamic range and external influences of sound system microphones, and also details the characteristics to be specified by the manufacturer. It applies to sound system microphones for all applications for speech and music. It does not apply to measurement microphones, but it does apply to each audio channel of microphones having more than one channel, for example for stereo or similar use. It is also applicable to flush-mounted microphones and to the analogue characteristics of microphones with digital audio output. For the purposes of this International Standard, a microphone includes all such devices as transformers, pre-amplifiers, or other elements that form an integral part of the microphone, up to the output terminals specified by the manufacturer. NOTE The characteristics specified in this standard do not completely describe the subjective response of the microphone. Further work is necessary to find new definitions and measurement procedures for a later replacement by objective characteristics of at least some of the subjective descriptions used to describe microphone performance.

Recommendation ITU-T J.388 defines a system for real-time video/audio transmission over an IP-based network. The protocol of the system consists of session control and media transmission.Session control is based on the session initiation protocol (SIP),and for the use of SIP this Recommendation refers to Recommendation ITU-T J.366.4.Several types of packet formats are defined for media transmission.With regard to codecs,this Recommendation provides some mandatory codecs and some optional ones.The system equipped with the protocol specified here can be used for bidirectional applications, such as video telephony,as well as unidirectional applications,such as video news gathering.Even in case of video news gathering,bidirectional transmission is often required for communication between a reporter in the field and the studio.In addition,the system is defined taking into account implementation complexity.Thus,a software-based embedded solution is also available,which requires less cost and a shorter development period than a hardwarebased one.

This part of IEC 62333 provides characterization of parameters for electromagnetic noise suppression sheet (NSS) for digital devices and equipment used in a frequency range between 30 MHz to 30 GHz. Guidance is given for uniform presentation of the properties of noise suppression sheet, intended for use in manufacturers and users technical data. NSS suppresses noise at its source, rather than absorbing noise at a distance. Therefore NSS is distinguished from RF wave absorbers used in free space. This standard addresses the following purposes of NSS manufacturers and users: – it assists users in understanding the published technical data in catalogues; – it guides users in selecting the most preferable NSS for each application; – it establishes measurement benchmarking for manufacturers of performance in new development of NSS; and – it maintains high reliability of NSS and applied products. The numerical values given in this standard are typical values of parameters (properties) of the related NSS. The purpose of NSS testing is the benchmarking of materials. Predictions of specific device performance values are not always easy or even possible. Every detailed material and NSS specification should be agreed between the user and the manufacturer.

This part of IEC 61606 is applicable to the basic methods of measurement of the audio characteristics of the digital audio part of audio and audiovisual equipment for all of consumer use, professional use and personal computer. The common measuring conditions and methods, described in this standard, are used for the measurement of the performance characteristics of equipment having an audio bandwidth equal to approximately one-half of the sampling frequency of a system, where the audio information is processed in the form of digital data. CD players, DAT recorders, digital amplifiers, digital sound broadcast receivers and television broadcast receivers with digital sound are examples. This standard describes test methods for equipment which has digital input with analogue output and analogue input with digital output. Future revisions of this standard will cover digital-in/digital-out and analogue-in/analogue-out tests. This standard does not apply to a lossy compression signal and also does not apply to power amplifiers. NOTE 1 A digital audio system having an analogue input and an analogue output with digital signal processing may have different characteristics from those of a pure analogue audio system due to sampling of the audio signal and performance of incorporated A/D and D/A converters. Measurement methods described in IEC 60268-3 may not give correct results when applied to a digital system. NOTE 2 The methods described are mostly based on sampling frequencies of 32 kHz and higher. NOTE 3 For tests of those systems of digital-in – digital-out, and analogue-in – analogue-out tests, refer to AES17. NOTE 4 This standard is planned to harmonize with the first edition of IEC 61606 (1997)1, AES17 and EIAJ CP-2i50.

This International Standard applies to transducers such as loudspeaker drive units@ loudspeaker systems@ headphones@ micro-speakers@ shakers and other actuators using either an electro-dynamical or electro-magnetic motor coupled with a mechanical suspension. The large signal behaviour of the transducer is modelled by a lumped parameter model considering dominant nonlinearities such as force factor@ stiffness and inductance as shown in Figure 1. The standard defines the basic terms and parameters of the model@ the methods of measurements and the way the results should be reported.
