4.1 This practice provides for using an unbonded capping system in testing hardened concrete cylinders made in accordance with Practices C31/C31M or C192/C192M in lieu of the capping systems described in Practice C617. 4.2 The elastomeric pads deform in initial loading to conform to the contour of the ends of the cylinder and are restrained from excessive lateral spreading by plates and metal rings to provide a uniform distribution of load from the bearing blocks of the testing machine to the ends of the concrete or mortar cylinders. 1.1 This practice covers requirements for a capping system using unbonded caps for testing concrete cylinders molded in accordance with Practice C31/C31M or C192/C192M. Unbonded neoprene caps of a defined hardness are permitted to be used for testing for a specified maximum number of reuses without qualification testing up to a certain concrete compressive strength level. Above that strength, level neoprene caps will require qualification testing. Qualification testing is required for all elastomeric materials other than neoprene regardless of the concrete strength. 1.2 Unbonded caps are not to be used for acceptance testing of concrete with compressive strength below 1500 psi [10 MPa] or above 12 000 psi [80 MPa]. 1.3 The values stated in either SI units or inch-pound units are to be regarded separately as standard. The values stated in each system may not be exact equivalents; therefore, each system shall be used independently of the other. Combining values from the two systems may result in non-conformance with the standard. 1.4 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use. (Warning—Concrete cylinders tested with unbonded caps rupture more violently than comparable cylinders tested with bonded caps. The safety precautions given in the Manual of Aggregate and Concrete Testing are recommended.2)

5.1 This is a quality test control performed at the manufacturing plant to establish that the finished, shippable pipe meets the leakage limits stated in the specifications. 1.1 This test method covers procedures for testing of precast concrete pipe sections, prior to delivery, where maximum field leakage rates are specified. 1.2 Tests described in this standard are intended to be used at the point of manufacture of the concrete pipe and are not intended for testing installed pipe (for field tests see Practices C924, C969, and C1214). The user of this specification is advised that individual or multiple pipe sections may be tested for the purpose of testing the pipe barrel and additionally the joints in straight alignment when multiple pipe sections are tested. 1.3 Test times are based on leakage rates and therefore are proportional only to the pipe diameter and are constant for any length of test pipe or pipeline. 1.4 Test times tabulated and the rate of air loss in this standard are based on successful testing of installed pipelines. However, since air and water have different physical properties, retests of some pipelines not meeting field air tests have been successful when tested with water. The leakage rates of 0.0017 CFM/ft2 and 0.0003 CFM/ft2, were determined empirically as the maximums for pipe to meet the 50 and 200 gal/(in. of internal diameter) (mile of sewer) (24h) test rates, respectively 1.5 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as standard. No other units of measurement are included in this standard.Note 1—The availability of this test procedure for concrete pipe varies from location to location. Check with local supplier(s) for availability and recommendations. 1.6 This standard does not purport to address all the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish the appropriate safety and health practices and to determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to its use. See Section 6 for specific safety precautions.

5.1 This is not a routine test. The values recorded are applicable only to the sewer being tested and at the time of testing. 1.1 This test method covers procedures for testing concrete pipe sewerlines, when using the negative air pressure (vacuum) test method to demonstrate the integrity of the installed material and the construction procedures. This test method covers testing of 4 to 36-in. diameter circular concrete pipe sewerlines utilizing gasketed joints.Note 1—The user of this test method is advised that methods described herein may also be used as a preliminary test to enable the manufacturer or installer to demonstrate the condition of sewer pipe prior to delivery or backfill. Minimum test times presented in Table 1 are for pipelines. Holding times for testing an individual pipe may have to be increased to allow for the accumulation of leakage when the tested pipe are incorporated into a continuous pipeline. This European Standard specifies the method for the determination of the secant modulus of elasticity in compression of hardened concrete on test specimens which may be cast or taken from a structure. The test method allows the determination of two secant moduli of elasticity: the initial modulus, E C,0 measured at first loading and the stabilized modulus, E C,S measured after three loading cycles. Two different test methods are given. The first (method A) is for determination of both initial and stabilized moduli, the second (method B) is for determination of stabilized modulus only.

1.1 General—This specification covers deformed and plain low-alloy steel bars in cut lengths or coils for concrete reinforcement intended for applications where restrictive mechanical properties and chemical composition are required for compatibility with controlled tensile property applications or to enhance weldability. The standard sizes and dimensions of deformed bars and their number designations are given in Table 1. The text of this specification references notes and footnotes that provide explanatory material. These notes and footnotes, excluding those in tables, shall not be considered as requirements of this specification. 1.2 Grade—Bars are of two minimum yield strength levels: namely, 608201;000 psi [420 MPa] and 808201;000 [550], designated as Grade 60 [420] and Grade 80 [550], respectively. 1.3 Plain bars, in sizes up to and including 21/2 in. [63.5 mm] in diameter in coils or cut lengths, when ordered, shall be furnished under this specification. For ductility properties (elongation and bending), test provisions of the nearest smaller nominal diameter deformed bar size shall apply. 1.4 Controlled Tensile Properties—This specification limits mechanical properties (Table 2) to provide the desired yield/tensile properties for controlled tensile property applications. 1.5 Welding—This specification limits chemical composition (6.2) and carbon equivalent (6.4) to enhance the weldability of the material. When steel is to be welded, a welding procedure suitable for the chemical composition and intended use or service should be used. The use of the latest edition of AWS8201;D1.4/D1.4M is recommended. This document describes the proper selection of the filler metals, preheat/interpass temperatures, as well as, performance and procedure qualification requirements. 1.6 Requirements for alternate bar sizes are presented in Annex A1. The requirements in Annex A1 only apply when specified by the purchaser (see 4.1.9). 1.7 This specification is applicable for orders in either inch-pound units (Specification A706) or in SI units [Specification A706M]. 1.8 The values stated in either inch-pound units or SI units are to be regarded as standard. Within the text, the SI units are shown in brackets. The values stated in each system are not exact equivalents; therefore, each system must be used independently of the other. Combining values from the two systems may result in nonconformance with this specification. 1.9 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use.
