Chemical reagent — Methyl tert-butyl ether
Esta norma establece el método para determinar la pureza del éter metil terbutílico (metoxi 2 metilpropano 2) (MTBE) por cromatografía gaseosa. También se incluye un procedimiento para determinar impurezas del MTBE tales como olefinas desde C4 hasta C12, alcoholes metílico, isopropílico y terbutílico, metil sec-butílico, acetona, y metil etil cetona. Se determinan aquellas impurezas cuya concentración mínima sea de 0,02 % en masa. Este método no es aplicable para la determinación del MTBE en naftas. El agua no se puede determinar por este método, pero de ser necesario hacerlo, se emplea un procedimiento tal como el indicado en la norma ASTM D 1364. Los resultados se usan para ajustar los valores del cromatógrafo.
