The standard describes the headform impact test for testing the behaviour of safety glasses (toughened glass, laminated glass, plastics and glass-plastics-laminates) for a road vehicles under impact from a blunt bulky object. The dropping object is a 5 kg or 10 kg phantom head fitted with receivers for acceleration. The damage of the sample, if any, acceleration data measured and the falling height of the phantom head, applied according to the requirements, are noted and recorded as test results. The test results allow an estimation of the protection of the human head provided by the safety glazing materials for head injuries in case of an impact on the safety glazing.
