What is this standard about? It supplies guidance on applying the international quality management standard ISO 9001:2015 to computer software and related support services. Who is this standard for? Its requirements are generic so it’s for use by any organization regardless of its type or size or the products and services it provides. Why should you use this standard? BS ISO/IEC 90003:2018 provides organizations with guidance on how to apply ISO 9001:2015 to the acquisition, supply, development, operation and maintenance of computer software. It identifies the issues that should be tackled and is independent of the technology, life cycle models, development processes, sequence of activities and organizational structure used by an organization. It provides guidance that will help organizations understand how the provisions of ISO 9001:2015 apply in the context of software, but it is not a management system standard. NOTE: No new requirements are introduced and this standard does not add to or otherwise change the requirements of ISO 9001:2015. What’s changed since the last update? This is a technical revision of the 2014 version. Mainly: The structure and content have been updated to reflect the total revision of ISO 9001:2015 Content has been updated to reflect the revision of BS ISO/IEC/IEEE 12207:2017 and other SC7 standards
