The bimetallic materials which are known as nickel and stainless clad steel plates are defined in this report with respect to properties and available sizes@ and are also identified by the several applicable ASTM and ASME specifications. The characteristics of each of the metals comprising the clad plates are not altered@ but@ combined as they are@ they require specific understanding and special fabricating techniques to assure successful service life. The special procedures used for cutting to size@ preparing edges for welding and fitting prior to welding are described. The importance of these procedures to obtain quality with economy is explained.
