What is BS EN 1645-1 - Leisure accommodation vehicles about? BS EN 1645 is a series of European standards on leisure accommodation vehicles that discusses the requirements relating to the safety of caravans. BS EN 1645-1 is the first part of a series of documents on leisure accommodation vehicles. BS EN 1645-1 specifies requirements intended to ensure the safety and health of people when they use caravans for temporary or seasonal habitation. BS EN 1645-1 also specifies the corresponding test methods. Requirements applicable to road safety are not included in the scope of BS EN 1645-1 . BS EN 1645-1 applies exclusively to rigid and rigid folding caravans as defined in EN 13878 .

1 Scope This document specifies open-loop test methods to determine the reactions of a vehicle in a turn to a sudden drop in motive power resulting from release of the accelerator pedal. It applies to passenger cars as defined in ISO 3833. The open-loop manoeuvre specified in this test method is not representative of real driving conditions, but is useful to obtain measures of a vehicle’s power-off behaviour resulting from specific types of control inputs under closely controlled test conditions.

This document specifies a method for comparing computer simulation results from a vehicle mathematical model to measured test data for an existing vehicle according to steady-state circular driving tests as specified in ISO 4138 or the Slowly Increasing Steer Test that is an alternative to when applied to variants of the tested vehicle. It is applicable to passenger cars as defined in ISO 3833. NOTE The Slowly Increasing Steer method is described in regulations such as USA FMVSS 126 “Federal Register Vol 72, No. 66, April 6, 2007” and UN/ECE Regulation No. 13-H, “Uni form provisions concerning the approval of passenger cars with regard to braking”.
