Dopo disgregazione del minerale con perossido e carbonato di sodio, si liscivia la massa fusa con acqua, si separa il residuo che contiene tutto il calcio ed il magnesio e, previa separazione dalla silice e degli idrati di ferro ed alluminio, si determinano la calce per via volumetrica mediante precipitazione con ossalato ammonico e titolazione con permanganato, e la magnesia nel filtrato dell' ossalato di calcio per via ponderale mediante precipitazione del magnesio come fosfato ammonico-magnesiaco, che si trasforma per calcinazione in pirofosfato di magnesio.
