This European Standard specifies requirements and tests for the construction, performance and safety of class 1,0 and class 1,5 battery powered ultrasonic gas meters (hereinafter referred to as meters), having co-axial single pipe, or two pipe connections, used to measure volumes of distributed fuel gases of the second and/or third family, as given in EN 437, at maximum working pressures not exceeding 0,5bar1) and maximum actual flow rates of up to 10 m3/h over a minimum ambient temperature range of -10 ~C to +40 ~C, and minimum gas temperature span of 40 K, for domestic applications. This European Standard applies to meters where the measuring element and the register(s) are enclosed in the same case. This European Standard applies to meters with and without built-in temperature conversion, that are installed in locations with vibration and shocks of Iow significance and in -- closed locations (indoor or outdoor with protection as specified by the manufacturer) with condensing or with non-condensing humidity or, if specified by the manufacturer, open locations (outdoor without any covering) with condensing humidity or with non-condensing humidity and in locations with electromagnetic disturbances. Unless otherwise stated, all pressures given in this European Standard are gauge pressures. When more than one meter type is submitted for testing, then each meter type is required to be tested against this European Standard. Clauses 1 to 15 and Annex C are for design and type testing only. Thermomechanical analyzers are employed in their various modes of operation (penetration, expansion, flexure, etc.) to characterize a wide range of materials. In most cases, the value to be assigned in thermomechanical measurements is the temperature of the transition (or event) under study. Therefore, the temperature axis (abscissa) of all TMA thermal curves must be accurately calibrated either by direct reading of a temperature sensor or by adjusting the programmer temperature to match the actual temperature over the temperature range of interest.1.1 This test method describes the temperature calibration of thermomechanical analyzers from − 50 to 1100 °C. (See Note 1.) 1.2 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as standard. No other units of measurement are included in this standard. 1.3 This standard is similar to ISO 11359–1 but addresses a larger temperature range and utilizes additional calibration materials. 1.4 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use. Specific precautionary statements are given in Section 7 and Note 9.

This Technical Report provides guidance on estimating the flowrate when using pressure differential devices constructed or operated outside the scope of ISO 5167. Additional tolerances or corrections cannot necessarily compensate for the effects of deviating from ISO 5167(all parts).The information is given,in the first place,to indicate the degree of care necessary in the manufacture,installation and maintenance of pressure differential devices by describing some of the effects of non-conformity to the requirements;and in the second place,to permit those users who cannot comply fully with the requirements to assess,however roughly,the magnitude and direction of the resulting error in flowrate. Each variation dealt with is treated as though it were the only one present.Where more than one is known to exist,there may be unpredictable interaction and care has to be taken when combining the assessment of these errors.If there is a significant number of errors,means of eliminating some of them have to be considered.The variations included in this Technical Report are by no means complete and relate largely to examples with orifice plates.An example with Venturi tubes has been placed at the end of its section.There are,no doubt,many similar examples of installations not conforming to ISO 5167(all parts)for which no comparable data have been published.Such additional information from users,manufacturers and any others may be taken into account in future revisions of this Technical Report.
