1.1 This specification covers brick intended for both structural and nonstructural masonry where external appearance is not a requirement. The brick are prismatic units available in a variety of sizes, shapes, textures, and colors. The specification does not cover brick intended for use as facing units or where surface appearance is a requirement, (see Specification C 216). This specification does not cover brick intended for use as paving brick (see Specification C 902).1.2 The property requirements of this standard apply at the time of purchase. The use of results from testing of brick extracted from masonry structures for determining conformance or nonconformance to the property requirements (Section ) of this standard is beyond the scope of this standard.1.3 Brick are manufactured from clay, shale, or similar naturally occurring earthy substances and subjected to a heat treatment at elevated temperatures (firing). The heat treatment must develop sufficient fired bond between the particulate constituents to provide the strength and durability requirements of this specification. (See firing, fired bond, and incipient fusion in Terminology C 43.)1.4 Brick are shaped during manufacture by molding, pressing, or extrusion, and the shaping method is a way to describe the brick (see Terminology C 43).1.5 The text of this standard references notes and footnotes which provide explanatory material. These notes and footnotes (excluding those in tables and figures) shall not be considered as requirements of the standard.1.6 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regarded as the standard. The values given in parentheses are for information only.

1.1 This specification covers dry-cast segmental retaining wall units of concrete, machine-made from hydraulic cement, water, and suitable mineral aggregates with or without the inclusion of other materials. The units are intended for use in the construction of mortarless segmental retaining walls.Note 1When particular features are desired, such as weight classification, higher compressive strength, surface texture, finish, color, or other special features, such properties should be specified separately by the purchaser. Local suppliers should be consulted as to availability of units having the desired features.1.2 The text of this standard references notes and footnotes which provide explanatory material. These notes and footnotes (excluding those in tables and figures) shall not be considered as requirements of the standard.1.3 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regarded as the standard. This Publicly Available Specification gives guidance on assessing the appearance of facing bricks, and the determination of on-site measurements of work size dimenssions, for all high density (HD)type clay bricks as defined by BS EN771-1. It includes a procedure for comparing sample panels with reference panels in order to assess the appearance acceptability of consignments of clay facing dricks. It is not intended to apply to common and engineering HD type clay bricks. It also provides a method of determining the overall dimensions of all clay bricks. The limits for the tolerance categories for the mean and range are those that apply to HD type clay bricks where the manufacturer's declared work sizes are those traditionally known as Brithish Standard dimensions (UK standard format clay bricks). If clay bricks are supplied with other work sizes, the limits for these categories will need to be calculated in accordance with BS EN 771-1.

This document specifies the characteristics and performance requirements of calcium silicate masonry units for which the main intended uses are inner walls, outer walls, cellars, foundations and external chimneymasonry. This document is intended to apply to all calcium silicate masonry units, including those of an overall nonrectangular parallelepiped shape, specially shaped and accessory units. It defines the performance related to e.g. strength, density and dimensional accuracy, measured according to the corresponding test methods contained in separate European Standards. It provides for the evaluation of conformity of the product to this European Standard. The marking requirement for products covered by this document is also included. This document does not specify standard sizes for calcium silicate masonry units, nor standard work dimensions and angles of specially shaped and accessory units. It does not cover units with more than 60 % volume of voids, nor products made from shale as a major raw material. It does not cover storey height panels. It does not cover units intended for use as a damp proof course, nor units with an incorporated thermal insulation material bonded to the faces of the unit susceptible to be exposed to fire nor chimney flue units.

1.1 This test method describes an in situ method for determining the deformation properties of existing unreinforced solid-unit masonry. This test method concerns the measurement of in-situ masonry deformability properties in existing masonry by use of thin, bladder-like flatjack devices that are installed in saw cut mortar joints in the masonry wall. This test method provides a relatively non-destructive means of determining masonry properties.1.2 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regarded as the standard. The values given in parentheses are for information only.1.3 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. 1.1 This specification covers structural clay loading-bearing wall tile. Two grades of tile are covered, as follows:1.1.1 Grade LB舒Suitable for general use in masonry construction and adapted for use in masonry exposed to weathering, provided they meet the durability requirements for Grade SW of Specification C 216.1.1.2 Grade LB8212;Suitable for general use in masonry where not exposed to frost action, or for use in exposed masonry where protected with a facing of 3 in. (76.2 mm) or more of stone, brick, terra cotta, or other masonry.1.1.3 If tile having a particular color, texture, or finish are desired, these features shall be specified separately by the purchaser. Color of tile varies with the type of clay used and degree of burning; hence, it cannot be taken as indicative of classification until after it has been related to absorption and strength by actual tests.1.2 The property requirements of this standard apply at the time of purchase. The use of results from testing of tile extracted from masonry structures for determining conformance or non-conformance to the property requirements (Section ) of this standard is beyond the scope of this standard.1.3 Tile covered by this standard are manufactured from clay, shale, or similar naturally occurring substances and subjected to a heat treatment at elevated temperatures (firing). This European Standard applies to ceramic tile grouts for internal and external tile installations on walls and floors. This standard gives the terminology concerning the products, working methods, application properties, etc., for ceramic tile grouts. This European Standard specifies the performance requirements for cementitious and reaction resin grouts for ceramic tiles. This European Standard does not contain criteria or recommendations for the design and installation of ceramic tiles. NOTE Ceramic tile grouts can also be used for other types of tiles (natural and agglomerated stones, etc.), where these do not adversely affect these materials.
