This European Standard specifies the requirements for individual electrically operated light devices, called warning lights, emitting a continuous or regular intermittent light of a single colour which, by their colour and position alone, are used to warn, inform or guide road users. It specifies the requirements for visual, structural and operational performances and the relevant test methods to be used. This European Standard is not applicable to lighting devices which convey messages by additional means (e. g. traffic signals) or which are covered by vehicle lighting regulations.

These devices rely upon existing furniture to provide the mounting. This European Standard is not applicable to lighting devices which convey messages by additional means (e.g. variable message signs) or which convey a mandatory instruction (e.g. traffic signals) or which are covered by vehicle lighting regulations. This European Standard does not consider horizontal loads because it is the mounting to which they are fixed, which is not covered by this European Standard, which has to resist applied horizontal loads.

This European Standard only applies to red, yellow and green signal lights for road traffic with 200 mm and 300 mm roundels. It defines the requirements for the visual, structural, environmental performances and testing of signal heads for pedestrian and road traffic use. Portable signal lights are specifically excluded from the scope of this European Standard.

DATEX-ASN allows different systems to exchange relevant data. This is contained in end-application messages. Each end-application message is defined as either a “subscription” or a “publication” according to the format as specified in ISO 14827-1. DATEX-ASN defines how these end-application messages are packaged to form a complete data packet and also defines the rules and procedures for exchanging these data packets. Systems using DATEX-ASN are free to implement additional end-application functionalities according to the user requirements. A DATEX-ASN network comprises a certain number of systems. Each system can be viewed as consisting of the interfaces. This part of ISO 14827 deals only with the communications interface. It has been designed to meet the unique requirements of TICS; however, it has been designed in a generic fashion and thus could be used for other data exchanges as well. Systems implementing this part of 14827 sometimes operate simultaneously as a client and server, using multiple sessions. The communications cloud between the two systems may be complex or simple.

This part of ISO 14827 defines the format that should be used to document those end-application messages that are to be exchanged between and among central systems. The format is protocol-independent to the extent practical. For example, this one format can be used to define data exchanges that may apply to DATEX-ASN, CORBA, or other application protocols. In general, each system can be viewed as consisting of the interfaces as shown in Figure 1: This part of ISO 14827 deals only with the communication interface and is at a very high level. Other parts define how end-application messages can be exchanged using various application layer protocols. While this part of ISO 14827 has been designed to meet the unique requirements of a TICS environment, it has been designed in a generic fashion and thus could be used for other data exchanges as well.

This document specifies requirements and test methods for new Variable Message Signs (VMS). VMS comprise two types, continuous and discontinuous signs: - continuous signs are those that are similar to fixed signs, the only difference being that by some electro-mechanical means they can show various messages. NOTE 1 For example rotating prism signs, roller blinds. - discontinuous signs create messages using individual elements that can be in one of two states (or more) and can thereby create various messages on the same sign face. NOTE 2 For example fibre optic signs, LED signs. This document covers the performance requirements for Variable Message Signs used for the instruction and guidance of road users on public and private land, including tunnels. In this document a number of different performance requirements (visual performance, EMC, environmental performance, etc) are covered, as well as durability. The EMC, safety and environmental requirements for both types of VMS are included in this document together with the visual performance for the discontinuous types VMS. The visual performance for continuous signs and externally illuminated discontinuous signs which are externally illuminated is covered by EN 12899-1. This document defines performance limits and a range of performance classes for both sign assemblies without vertical support and assemblies complete with vertical support. Not covered by this document are: a) sign gantries, cantilevers and foundations; b) signal heads; c) sizes and shapes of VMS messages; d) control units and monitoring units unless inside the test module; e) sign luminance control. The control of the luminance of luminous signs with respect to the ambient light is not covered by this standard.

This part of ISO 15765 specifies requirements for the emissions-related systems of legislated-OBD-compliant controller area networks (CAN), such communications networks consisting of a road vehicle equipped with a single or multiple emissions-related ECUs and external test equipment. It is based on the specifications of ISO 15765-2, ISO 11898-1 and ISO 11898-2, while placing restrictions on those standards for legislated-OBD purposes. It does not specify in-vehicle CAN bus architecture. Legislated-OBD-compliant vehicles are to comply with external test equipment requirements.

1.1 This practice covers the installation of piezoelectric tire-force sensors that are used to detect axles when counting, classifying, or weighing vehicles as part of a roadway traffic monitoring program. Piezoelectric sensors are often used in pairs and combined with other roadway sensors such as inductive loops to classify and weigh vehicles.1.2 The practice applies only to piezoelectric tire-force sensors used for the detection of vehicle axles on a roadway.1.3 The values stated in inch-pound units are to be regarded as standard. The values given in parentheses are for information only and are not considered standard. This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.
