1.1 This test method determines the extent to which a test grease retards the rotation of a specially-manufactured, spring-loaded, automotive-type wheel bearing assembly when subjected to low temperatures. Torque values, calculated from restraining-force determinations, are a measure of the viscous resistance of the grease. This test method was developed with greases giving torques of less than 35 N183;m at 40176;C.1.2 The values stated in SI units are to be regarded as the standard. The values in parentheses are for information only.1.3 This standard does not purport to address all of the safety concerns, if any, associated with its use. It is the responsibility of the user of this standard to establish appropriate safety and health practices and determine the applicability of regulatory limitations prior to use.

This part of ISO 3739 specifies the main require-ments, including size designation and marking, of 5° tapered and flat base rims with diameters not ex-ceeding rim diameter code 15 for pneumatic tyres, and for solid tyres for pneumatic tyre rims, primarily intended for industrial vehicles for use on prepared surfaces. ISO 3739-1 gives the designation, dimensions and marking, and ISO 3739-2 the load ratings of pneu-matic tyres (metric series). ISO 10499 covers the designation, dimensions and marking of rubber solid tyres (metric series) for pneumatic tyre rims. Rim dimensions are specified for size and contour only. The tyre and the wheel/rim manufacturers have to be consulted for confirmation of the suitability of the tyre/rim combinations, particularly with regard to rim profile and wheel strength.

This Subsection of BS AU 50 : Part 4 specifies contours and dimensions of rims for use with code-designated series tyres used on industrial vehicles. Requirements for such tyres are specified in BS AU 50 : Part 1 : Subsection 5.1 : 1994. Requirements for rim construction and workmanship are specified in BS AU 50 : Part 2 : Section 0 : 1979. SAFETY NOTE. The wheel manufacturer should also be consulted to determine whether the rim and wheel is of sufficient strength for the intended service. In particular, care should be taken to ensure that the wheel will withstand the maximum pressure of any tyre that can be fitted in accordance with BS AU 50 : Part 1 : Subsection 5.1 : 1994. This pressure may exceed 1000 kPa (10 bar) for both diagonal and radial tyres.
