This part of IEC 746 applies to analyzers using membrane covered amperometric sensors for the continuous determination of dissolved oxygen pa rtial pressure or concentration. It applies to analyzers for use on potable water, industrial process streams, industrial waste water, municipal waste water, and receiving bodies of water (e.g. lakes, rivers and estuaries). Though not specifically applying to non-membrane covered electrochemical sensors, the discussion of analyzers utilizing membrane covered amperometric sensors may be used as a general reference. Its object is to specify the terminology, definitions, requirements for statements from manufacturers and performance tests for sensor units, analyzers, and electronic units used in the determination of the dissolved oxygen contents of aqueous solutions.
