1. Scope 1.1
These requirements apply to life safety ropes and associated equipment used by
the fire service for the purpose of raising, lowering or horizontally moving a
maximum of two people. Part A covers the requirements for life safety ropes;
Part B covers the requirements for body support devices; Part C covers the
requirements for hardware. Note:
1) Life safety ropes are to be previously unused; and
2) Ropes covered by this Standard are not to be used for water rescue.
