1.1 This test method determines the degree of combustibility of building
materials by measuring the rate of heat release from specimens exposed to
radiant heat using the test apparatus, specimen configurations, and procedures
described. 1.2 This test method provides for radiant thermal exposure of a specimen
together with application of a pilot flame on the specimen. 1.3 Heat release is measured from a specimen inserted into a controlled
exposure chamber. The measurements are taken through a period of ignition and
until such time as the heat release has ceased, but the duration of the test
shall not exceed 10 min. 1.4 This test method is used to test materials and products under an external
