This Gulf standard specifies a method of selecting paints, varnishes and related products to determine their ability to emit when maintained at a selected equilibrium temperature and under the conditions of the test gives off flammable vapours, to cause ignition at this temperature on application of a flame from an external source in a standard manner. This standard is suitable for use for temperatures that range from 5 to 65oC. Some of the apparatus cannot cover all of this range when using a thermometer supplied with the apparatus. This method also allows adjustments required for deviations in the atmospheric pressure.
