This Standard is also applicable to such equipment designed and intended to be connec-ted directly to a telecommunication network and forming part of a subscriber's installa-tion, regardless of ownership and of responsibility for installation and maintenance.
This Standard specifies requirements intended to ensure safety for the operator and lay-man who may come into contact with the equipment and, where specifically stated, for service personnel.
This Standard is intended to ensure the safety of instalied equipment, whether it consists of a system of interconnected units or independent units, subject to installing, operating and maintaining the equipment in the manner prescribed by the manufacturen

Equipment complying with the relevant requirements in this Standard is considered suitable for use with process control equipment, automatic test equipment and similar systems requiring Information processing facilities.
