These requirements cover combination locks designed for attachment on doors of
safes, chests, vaults, and the like to provide a means of locking the boltwork
against unauthorized opening. 1.2
Combination locks are investigated primarily for correctness of design and
accuracy of construction to guard against unauthorized opening of the
combination by sense of sight, touch, or hearing. Combination locks may or may
not have built-in protection against entry by force.
