1.1 This test method enables an assessment of the fire spread characteristics
of non-loadbearing exterior wall assemblies. 1.2 The test determines the comparative burning characteristics of exterior
wall assemblies by evaluating the following: A Fire spread over the exterior surface;
B Heat flow from the fire plume to the exterior surface; and
C Fire spread within the test specimen. 1.3 This test method does not assess: A The fire performance of framing details or teatments of windows, doors or
other openings that may be used in combination with the test specimen; and B The fire performance of the test specimen when exposed to the effects of an
interior fire migrating through an exterior wall assembly.
