ISO/IEC 10118 specifies hash-functions and is therefore applicable to the provision of authentication, integrity and non-repudiation services.
NOTE - In contrast to the calculation of a Message Authenti-cation Code (MAC), the goal of which is to ensure authen-tication of a message employing a secret key, the genera-tion of a hash-code does not involve a secret key. For the calculation of the MAC the user is referred to ISO/IEC 9797 [1]
